Doug's Journal of Shaving Happiness v2.0

Intermittent fasting is a good way to control your weight for sure. I had success with that. Once you get past the stage where you always feel hungry it is easier. The hardest part for me was over eating during the time I could eat. Don't have that problem anymore though.

I just recieved a sample of WWSC Pinkerton from @Shavewizard420. It’s next on my Sunday Sample Rotation. That’s a shame that the Aces & Eights gave you trouble. Not only does it have a great name, but it sounds like the scent is AMAZING!

Looking forward to your thoughts on the new Model T as well.

Doug I really love the Aces and Eights too. Mine was a PIF from DocHoliday. It's a rich lathering soap. Great to see you back

I might have to give WWSC another try. I samples MANY of their soaps when they were new and didn't like the artificial scent they all seemed to have. Curious if he's worked that out now.

The shave was decent, but the blade left a bit to be desired. I don't think that I will be continuing to use it.

Gear
The Game Changer is a fabulous razor.

Other Thoughts
My new job is still great. I feel like I am starting to get the hang of things.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Glad things are going well at the new job Doug!

Is that Lord blade one of the bad blades Chad tried recently?

I am working on losing more weight. I have started doing 16:8 Intermittent Fasting. (Basically I eat all of my calories for the day between noon and 8:00 PM.) I have been doing for about two weeks now and it is already showing results. Here's hoping that it leads to improved health for me.

Intermittent fasting can yield some seriously good health benefits. It helps kind of reset your body in a way. Also it keeps your insulin and glucose levels low, which helps for not just weight loss...but a lot of other things. Keep up the incredible work Doug!

Hope the Pinkerton works well for you brother! Wild West seems to be a artisan that is hit or miss with many people. Aparently Russel has done some slight tweaks to the formula recently, its great to see artisans take constructive criticizism and try to make to best product possible.

This time it was the LNHC Somail Rose with a Schick Hydro 5 Sensitive. I got a decent shave from the cart razor. However, the soap lit me up right away. Unfortunately this one goes on the re-PIF pile. Hopefully, the other LNHC soaps will work better for me.

Good stuff.

Other Thoughts
Nothing much going on right now.

LNHC coconut oud in the older Premium base lit me up too. The scent was one that kept me coming back for more but e eventually the pain stopped me from using it. IRC the performance was nothing to write home about but not worth complaining about either.

The intermittent or 16:8 fasting seems to be a popular weight control solution. I’ve read many suggestions that the non-fasting period be done between 4 and 6pm to extend the period between last meal and going to bed. Of course doing it that way is much more difficult. One of the challenges is getting home from work early enough. The idea certainly challenges the old notion that having a good early breakfast kick starts the metabolism

Actually there is a lot of research that has come out lately from randomized control studies that say doing intermittent fasting and having you fasting period later rather than earlier might optimize weight management/loss. For example if you are doing the 16:8 model. Eat a meal in the morning and eat a meal in the early afternoon and then fast until morning again. Here is a link to one of the articles I read a while back: New study results show how intermittent fasting helps blood sugar control, blood pressure.

But we are all different. What works for me, may not work for you. Just have to figure things out. I am not sure I can really say that I intermittent fast...because I do have coffee in the morning that has cream, coconut oil, collagen and sometimes butter. But I do eat my meals in the afternoon and evening. I try to eat as early in the evening as possible because eating late interrupts good healthy sleep patterns, but this doesn't always happen the way I plan it. Chris is right...it is hard to get home early enough to eat this way. But I have learned not to stress about it. Just do what you can and the rest will fall into line when it can.

Did I miss something here? What's up with the Cart Razor?

Thanks for the comments guys.

We will see how the IF goes. I am doing 12-8 for now.

As for the cart razor, I was in a rush that morning. It did give a good shave, however.

Need to give the .84 GC plate a try soon. Also, the Model T needs a test drive.

I am in a week long training at work. The Scaled Agile Framework for teams. It is kind of interesting, but it is a bit dry in places.

Oh, and Denver is supposed to get a blizzard tomorrow. Lets' see what happens.
