Interesting shaves...

SOTD Pic

Shave Quality
The second shave with the Assured DE in the Van der Hagen Weishi was good. It was very similar to the first shave. Not much more to say...

Today's shave with the Rubin was interesting. This is a vintage razor that I got from eBay. It is a Russian made Gillette clone. It was a really, really mild shave. It was so mild that I had a hard time feeling the blade. The result was DFS+ because I couldn't get enough blade feel.

Gear
The Rapira is a great blade. Let's see if it can make it the entire month.

Other Thoughts
A good end to a good week. I am off to beer-thirty.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Yup...honestly I like just about all of the Rapira blades! The Swedish Steel is probably my favorite of them. Plus...Rapira is just kind of a manly thing to say!

Curious Doug, Now that you are using the Brad Sears. What are your thoughts on what is considered a premium badger vs other brushes you have been using?

Mild Russian Shaves...

SOTD Pic

Shave Quality
I am really enjoying the Rubin. It is perhaps the mildest razor that I think I have ever used. Settings 2 and 3 are not much more aggressive than setting 1. The shaves have been DFS+, so not the best but quite good.

Today's lather, however, was really thin and airy. I have been scooping out the last of the tub into my shave mug for the last two shaves and today I got too much water into it. The lather was really slick and would have been good for a straight shave, but it was really sloppy. It was still a great shave.

Gear
Still loving the Rapira SS.

Other Thoughts
This has been a long Monday.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

The soap is dead! Long live the soap!

Shave Quality
I finished off the Stubble Buster 3017 today. It was a great soap and I am looking forward to using more of Stubble Buster's products. The Rubin razor is still great at giving me irritation free shaves. The final lather of the puck was really good. I am calling it BBS- today. I am really happy with the shave.

Gear
I love Russian steel. The Rapira SS is a great blade. I hope it lasts past the month mark.

Other Thoughts
I really like working for SketchUp. The company is awesome. We are having a release this week and fun things are happening around the office.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Congrats on killin the tub Doug! Looking forward to your thoughts as you go through the new soaps!

Josh's Mega PIF Soap #1

Shave Quality
CBL is a great soap for me. it is definitely elite. (If you haven't tried it yet, do so. Now.) I like the scent of the Ghost Lime. It is nice and light, a very pleasant lime. The cooling from the Koolada is really nice also. The shave was great overall. The blade/razor combo still left me BBS-. This razor definitely wants a sharper blade. Unfortunately, the soap did react with my skin. It was hard to tell until I got to the aftershave due to the cooling effect. But, there was definite irritation. Great soap, but I will be turning it into samples for the exchange.

Shave Quality
This soap smells great. It does, in fact, smell like a lemon/lime sucker. Thankfully it did not react with my face today. So, I might keep this one. It performs well. I definitely think it is a Tier 1 soap. The lather was slick and protective. If anything the residual slickness was a bit lacking compared to others. This is something I would definitely buy. I hope that I can continue to use this one without any adverse reactions. I definitely suggest you all try it.

Gear
This Russian razor is great. It needs a different blade. The Rapira SS will probably do better in a different razor.

Other Thoughts
Having a good week.
