Doug's Journal of Shaving Happiness v2.0

Just catching up Doug. Sounds like irritation city over there! I agree with the others, take a day off to regroup and then go with a soap that you know works.

Journal Entry #217

NO Shaves 1/5/2019 & 1/6/2019.

I hope that my next shave is one that doesn't make my face burn.

Also, I am overwhelmed by winning Josh's uber-PIF.

Good call on letting the money maker rest! Hope the first shave back is that much more enjoyable!

2019 Shave #5 (DE: 5, SE: 0, SR: 0, Shavette: 0)
Pre: Hot shower/splash of cool water/Williams modern soap
Razor:
Rockwell 6C w/ R2 plate
Blade: Indian Wilkinson Sword (2)
Brush: Sorrentino Custom Tuxedo
Soap/Cream: CFG Sherlock
AS 1: Thayer's Rose Witch Hazel
AS 2: Aqua Velva Sensitive 5-in-1 ASB
AS 3: CFG Sherlock
Fragrance: CFG Sherlock

Overview
I guess my face is just too sensitive for Sherlock

Shave Quality
I took two days off and it definitely helped. However, the Sherlock still reacted with my face. I am guessing it is the mandarin in the scent profile, but don't know for sure. One the upside, the R2 plate with the Indian Wilkie sure did perform. I was left BBS after two passes. And once my face settled down from the Sherlock burn, I had no remaining irritation. Overall I am going to call this one a solid win. I will be changing my CFG 3017 to something else though.

Gear
I love the Sherlock scent, I just wish that it loved me.

Indian Wilkie + Rockwell 6C R2 = Win!

Other Thoughts
Got a new mug for the office (actually I will have two soon), so that is good. I am still a bit shocked at winning Josh's PIF. I think I am going to do a couple of PIFs of my own to spread the love.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Dang Doug, thats too bad you had a reaction to Sherlock. Especially since you like the scent, nothing worse than liking something that doesnt like you back.

Well that stinks but why torture yourself. Had a similar reaction to a New York Shaving Company Old Saint Patricks. Smelt amazing but would burn like a mother. Tried as I might I had to stop.

What’s next? You know you have to start with a full tub of CF?

Really great shave today. The Stubble Buster smells great and is definitely a Tier 1 soap. The Rockwell with the Indian Wilkie delivered again with no irritation for BBS. It was a really great shave and I am going to love 3017ing this soap.

Gear
The SB Absolutely is great stuff.

Other Thoughts
It was a really good day at the new job.

Shave Quality
Another really great shave. This soap base is almost as good as, if not as good as, the CFG base. It has good shave performance and reasonably good post-shave performance. The Rockwell with the Baili blade delivered BBS- in two passes. This is what a 3017 should be like.

Gear
I am very happy with my gear today.

Other Thoughts
I am learning new things every day at my new job. This is a good thing.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.
