Shave Quality
The post-shave on this soap is great, although something in the shave lit me up a bit. I am not sure if it was the citrus in the pre-shave oil or the soap. I will have to give them both another try separately. The performance of the soap is really great, but it loads and lathers much differently than I am used to.

Gear
I like the performance of the soap, but if this scent lights me up again I will have to send it in to the sample library.

Other Thoughts
One more day until restraint and CFG 3017!

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

That's odd about the irritation. I wouldn't think that Oakmoss would be an irritant for most people...but you just never know. But decent couple of shaves either way!

Shave Quality
I bloomed the soap and got a better, more normal lather. The shave was great.

Gear
The soap was better today, but it still irritated me some. I guess I will be turning it into samples for the sample library. I wonder if there is any citrus in the oakmoss to enhance the scent.?

Other Thoughts
Ready, set, restraint! Tomorrow will be my first shave with the CFG Sherlock.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

From HBS page:

Oakmoss -Musky with green notes and a touch of woodiness.

Doesnt sound like any citrus, and I don’t smell any in mine.

Well, I then don't know what I am reacting to. The only thing that I know for sure is that I react to is lime and some other citrus oils.

Well sorry the irritation in that soap is getting the better of you...but I am sure people will be happy to try them as samples!

Happy New Year to you and your family Doug!!!

Shave Quality
I decided to take a spin with the Feather SS since I haven't used a straight or shavette in quite a while. I only made it through one pass with it. After getting about 5 tiny love bites from it, including my chin and adam's apple, I decided to stop. I then went for two passes XTG with the Karve, one east-west and one west-east. I would call it DFS+ if there weren't a ton of irritation from the SS. I am going to call this one a DE shave, since I used that more than the SS in the shave.

Gear
The Sherlock scent is interesting and quite strange. The description from the web site: "Our Sherlock scent is inspired by the character brought to life in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in his classic series – The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes – written in the late 1800’s. It is a warm tobacco based scent blended with toasted caramel, black pepper, moist dirt, and finished with a touch of leather, moss, mandarin, honey and rose."

The soap comes off rather floral to my nose. I can definitely get the hints of rose from it while shaving. The other notes are very subtle. The AS is very peppery. That is almost the only scent I can get from the splash until the dry-down. The EdP is very earthy. With that being the predominant scent note when it first goes on. The dry-down for both end up being more in line with the soap. It is fun experiencing different aspects of the scent from the different products.

Other Thoughts
Happy New Year everyone!

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

I know about the tiny love bites...sorry it happened. Good luck on the 3017! And Happy New Year!

Bummer about the roughy Feather start. You should bring it out more, show it who’s boss! Good call to switch razors though.

Nice start to the group 3017 sans irritation. I guess you really need to keep your technique in practice when dealing with those straights and shavettes.

All caught up on your shaves over the last week. Looking forward to when the shaving axe is in working order.

Sherlock is one of two CFG scents where I was a definite NO! The other is Summer Storm.

Shave Quality
The lather was good, but my face was still irritated from yesterday. The soap really lit me up. The AS splash did as well. My skin was BBS after the shave, but oh the burn during. I really hope this is a one time occurrence because I really like the Sherlock scent.

Gear
The Shark SS works well with the Karve.

Other Thoughts
It was good getting back to work today.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

I would give your face a rest for a day. If you still get some irritation...then ditch the soap. I was having the same issue yesterday...but with me it was becasue I got a really smooth shave and then shaved only 18 hours later and got a really smooth shave again!

Is it the Sherlock or something else? It’s a real mystery. The game is a foot!
