Doug's Journal of Shaving Happiness v2.0

Cool to see improvement in performance with experience Doug.

Is is it me or have I been noticing you using nothing but the WCS lately? ?

I use a pretty steep angle with the Timeless. Now a Josh's Timeless I haven't used. I'll have to try to find one of those on eBay

Shave Quality
So, I tried to shave with my new "Shaving Axe" today, but I had to stop before finishing the first pass. The edge isn't quite where I need it to be to get a comfortable and smooth straight shave. Once the edge is in better form it is going to be boatloads of fun to shave with. It is the coolest straight razor that I have ever seen! I finished up with the Game Changer for a wonderful BBS.

Gear
The Shaving Axe is cool. I need to try my hand at honing again so that I can get it into better shaving shape.

Other Thoughts
This Christmas and getting the new job are a really positive end to a rough year. 2018 has been hard in a number of ways. I am looking forward to 2019, especially the restraint and the Chiseled Face 3017 in January.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Shave three with the TImeless today. The first pass (WTG) was really good. However, the second pass (XTG) was irritating and left me with one weeper. The lather was the usual great lather that CFG soaps produce. I think the Timeless head is just too heavy for my face. Overall I am BBS-.

Gear
The Timeless is extremely well built.

Other Thoughts
It is really nice to have the days between Christmas and New Year's off.

Shave Quality
Really good shave today. The Vie-Long produced a great lather. It is more scritchy than the badgers that I have been using lately, but it produces a lather that is very similar to what the badgers will. The Racer blade gave good results. I was BBS- after my usual two passes. The horsy scent produced by the brush actually worked well with the GTB scent.

Gear
The Stirling Pre-shave Oil is good stuff. The Williams soap as a pre-shave adds more slickness but they both help hydrate and protect. The Stirling oil definitely smells better.

The Racer is a good blade. It is made at the Lord factory. It works well and like the other Lord Super Stainless blades that I have used (Big Ben, Crown, Shark, ASCO) it gave me a great shave that was comfortable and low irritation.

Other Thoughts
Happy Friday, Cadre!
