Oh, I meant the razor, not the blade

Good stuff Doug! As far as series on Netflix go...it's a little kitch...but the wife and I just started watching The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Yup it's based on the comic of the same name. But it's much darker than I expected...so I like it...a lot. It is nothing like that sitcom that used to be on. But I totally understand if it's not your thing!

Last night I weighed the Tabac puck. It was at 374 grams. This means that I have used 67 grams of soap since starting this 3017 at the beginning of the month. This puts me at about 2.8 grams per shave. Also, this was a 125 gram puck, so I have used half of it up to this point. I knew that I was loading the bloomed puck hard, but I didn't realize I was hate loading quite that much. This puck isn't going to last too much past the end of the month at this rate. I wish that I could say I feel bad about using this much product, but the shaves have been so over the top spectacular that I just can't feel bad. I guess I need to figure out what is next up on the kill list much sooner than I expected.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.[/QUOTE]

Dont feel bad about using it up too quickly. Have noticed some soaps can reach the bottom with a short number of shaves. Think many lather problems come from not jsing enough product, especially triple milled soaps.

So, it looks like the Williams pre-shave is working really well for you. Do you just soap up with it before you lather with your shaving soap of the day? You seem to be really getting good results with it.

I honestly can't remember if I've seen AHS Cult. I'm going to have to start the first episode and see if it looks familiar. But I'm guessing not.

If it were zamak I might be able to give a prediction on how long it will last, but SS should outlast me... While I am really digging this razor, I don't want to devote myself to just one. I do like variety in my hardware.

The wife and I saw the trailer for it. Not sure if it is my thing. I might give it an episode or two.

I wouldn't say I feel bad. There is a part of me that feels like 2.8 grams of soap per shave is wasteful, but that isn't really much of a concern at all. I am going to load it heavy, get great shaves, and then replace the puck when it is gone.

I just wet my face (which should still be well hydrated from my shower), rub the puck on my face a bit, and then with wet fingers lather it up a bit. The idea is to put the soap on top of wet skin and then introduce some water to the soap to help keep the face well hydrated while I bowl lather. I think it would also be good for face lathering. In a way it ends up being a kind of uber-lather. Next time I place an order with PAA I am going to get their "The Cube" pre-shave soap and give that a try also, but the Williams is working well for me. I am going to stop buying pre-shave oils.

Journal Entry #162

Pre
: Hot shower/splash of cool water/Williams Mug soap
Razor: PAA SS DOC Ascension
Blade: Parker (8)
Brush: RazoRock 24mm Finest Badger with Barber Handle
Soap/Cream: Tabac (29)
AS 1: Thayer's Rose Witch Hazel
AS 2: Aqua Velva Sensitive 5-in-1 ASB
AS 3: Tabac AS splash
Fragrance: Tabac EdC

Overview
I would say that the shaves are getting boring, but that would be a lie. How could shaves this good be boring?

SOTD Pic
None

Shave Quality
Tabac lather is Tabac lather. It smells amazingly good. It has elite, or almost elite, performance. It works very well with this razor. My face is soft and BBS. I was a little too harsh with the razor today, so there is a bit of extra irritation. I still have a problem with too much pressure.

Gear
Good to go, especially the blade. It is still performing at, or close to, the same level that it did on shave #1.

Other Thoughts

I have been on a bit of a hiatus from RPGs (role playing games, not rocket-propelled grenades

) for several months. This weekend I started a new D&D 5e game with my Sunday gaming group, which includes my wife. That first session went very well and I am looking forward to next Sunday. Last night I rejoined a different group to start a homebrew 5e game as a player. That was really fun also. I think I needed the break, and now it is wonderful to get back into the swing of things. I will continue to play the Legend of the Five Rings Living Card Game (L5R LCG) on Wednesdays, which I love. But, it is not my first love in gaming. I have been playing D&D (and other RPGs) since I was about 7 years old. They are my favorite games to play.

Also, I am finding it annoying that the forum software defaults to an 11 point font for most posts, but the font selector menu in the editor doesn't allow me to select that point size for my replies. If I change the font, or cut-and-paste some text that has a different font size, and then start editing, I will end up with two different font sizes in my post. I may be nitpicking here, but I should be able to manually select all the available fonts on the forum. If 11pt. fonts are going to be used, I should be able to manually select that font size in the editor.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Great entry today Doug!

Never much got into D&D, but my wife and I are always on the lookout or up for playing a good indie tabletop game. Did Magic for a while too, but then the local shop got overrun by the folks that give gamers a bad rep - bronies and such. So I sold everything off.

It is a bummer that the community at your LGS changed like that. My local store really goes out of its way to be open, inviting, and family friendly.

Wow ... I really didn’t know D&D was still a thing, I guess I need to get out more. The last time I played was decades ago. But hey, if you get tired of the rocket propelled grenades ... I’m in!

D&D Fifth Edition is the current version of the game. Right now it is more popular than it ever has been before. My FLGS (friendly local gaming store) has a D&D night on Wednesday nights. They regularly fill 9 tables with 6 players per table. So, every Wednesday there are over 50 people at my local gaming store playing D&D.

Thanks for the info, that makes a lot of sense. I'll have to try it sometime.

I just hope your character is clean shaven.
