Doug's Journal of Shaving Happiness v2.0

Journal Entry #110

Pre: Hot shower/splash of cool water/Shave Secret oil
Razor: Merkur 34c
Blade: German Wilkie (1)
Brush: Omega 49 Pro boar
Soap/Cream: AOS Eucalyptus Cream (9)
AS 1: Thayer's Rose Witch Hazel
AS 2: Nivea Cooling Post Shave Balm
AS 3: Florida Water
Fragrance: none

Overview
An overly mild pairing

Shave Quality
The lather was great and the shave was very mild and pleasant finishing as DFS+. However, it ended up being a bit too mild. My whiskers came back about half way through the day.

Gear
I love the 34c, but it was too mild with the Wilkie.

Other Thoughts
I am starting to wonder if my lab configuration will ever be right.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Nice one Doug, hopefully you're able to figure out the lab stuff sooner than later. It's funny, but when you go from an open blade to one of the more mild DE's, the quality of the shave increases, but the longevity is definitely noticeably shorter.

Pre
: Hot shower/splash of cool water/Shave Secret oil
Razor: Schick N-Type Injector
Blade: Personna (??)
Brush: Omega 49 Pro boar
Soap/Cream: AOS Eucalyptus Cream (9)
AS 1: Thayer's Rose Witch Hazel
AS 2: Nivea Cooling Post Shave Balm
AS 3: Lucky Tiger AS & Face Tonic
Fragrance: WSP Barbershop

Overview
I was a little too heavy handed with the Injector.

Shave Quality
The shave was a solid BBS with excellent lather, but with lots of neck tenderness for the rest of the day. I just used too much pressure, I think. There was no blood.

Gear
The WSP Barbershop is a fabulous scent, but I can't use it often due to it lighting my face up.

Other Thoughts
We got a fancy single-serve coffee machine at the office. It has a touch screen and can make all sorts of espresso drinks. This could be a dangerous thing.

Overview
Yesterday's adventure with the N-Type warranted another attempt today.

Shave Quality
The shave is a solid BBS again with only a tiny bit of irritation here and there. My neck is even a bit better than usual. The AOS cream makes a killer lather. It is rich and thick with a fabulous scent. This cream is a real pleasure to shave with.

Gear
Injector FTW.

Other Thoughts
I really need to start getting to bed before 11:00 PM.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Nice couple of shaves Tim, even with the irritation on the 21st. Those little coffee machines ARE deadly...lol

Great update Doug!

Single serve coffee machines are dangerous...get me in a room with an unmonitored Keurig, unlimited K-Cups, and some creamer...I’ll either be bouncing off the walls or rocking in the corner in no time.

This coffee machine is a 3ft.x3ft. cube that has two bean grinders in it and can even make a cafe mocha.

Sleep is overrated! Plus you have a new coffee machine at work...so you don't need sleep!

Great shave Doug!

Those machines are awesome!! I have to make sure SWMBO doesn't see one of those, she'll be asking for one in no time.
