Doug's Journal of Shaving Happiness v2.0

Can you imagine how excited we're all going to be when he posts the first shave with a different soap?

I am going to be excited as well.

I am seriously going as fast as I can on this tub. I am doing at least 30 seconds of load time each day and the doughnut hole is growing. However, it may take around 60 or so shaves to kill the tub.

But, I am going to kill it.

I am deciding between Micky Lee Soapworks The Kraken, Haslinger Schafmilch, or my puck of TOBS Sandalwood for my next soap to kill. I am not sure which. Ooh, or maybe I will do a cream next. Decisions, decisions...

I just love watching the remaining soap in the tub get smaller and smaller each day.

If it’s the TOBS, just prepare for another long haul! Lol. ?

Great stuff, Doug. I've considered 3017ing a puck of soap, but then I look at all of them and can't pick just one lol.

Today was the best shave yet with the PAL. It was on the highest setting. The lather was great. It was two passes of awesome. I am BBS in two passes.

Yes, the Latha is boring and predictable at this point. And I am getting to that point in the 3017 where the soap can't disappear fast enough. Some days it is hard to keep it going, but I need to finish the tub.

I weighed the tub after my shave this morning. It came in at 84 grams. The initial weight of the tub was 152 grams. This means that I have used 68 grams of soap over 47 shaves, or about 1.45 grams per shave. That is not too bad. I wish the usage were higher. Perhaps I will raise my load time to one minute? If the tub weighs 39 grams, then I have about 45 grams of soap left in the tub, which means that I have another month to go at the current rate of consumption.

While I wouldn't mind moving on to something else, I am getting great performance out of this soap so who am I to complain?

Other Thoughts
Working from home today for a change of pace. It is nice and quiet here. I really don't like the lack of cubicle walls in the office area. It gets so noisy.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

No reason to complain, the shaves are good. Plus BBS in two shaves no clean up? That is cool!

Perhaps this new Omega boar will kill it faster?

The inaugural shave with this Omega 49 was really good. The lather was great after loading for a full minute. The Super Speed (one of my recent Iowa acquisitions) glided across my face. The Astra worked as expected. It was two passes for full on BBS.

Gear
Great performance from everything today.

Other Thoughts
I am feeling some shave soap AD, but I don't know what to buy next... I have enough soap to last me years, but I want more.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

I love my Omega 49 Pro. I haven't used mine in a while. Might have to break it out. I remember mine taking a while to break in, but when it did...it was a great brush!

“Hi, my name is Doug and I have too much soap.”

”Hi Doug”

Enough to last a few years, is not nearly enough. You need to plan for the Shavepocalypse! I think I Have enough soap to last until I’m about 80. A few more and I’ll be set for life!

I was hoping that if I don't have enough soap when the Shavepocalypse happens that I would be able to bribe @CBLindsay for his soap recipe so that I can make my own.

Until then, I will continue acquiring.

An Omega 49 will kill a tub of soap about as fast or faster than anything else available. Except maybe one of those 32mm badgers...

Today's shave was a quick repeat of yesterday. Two passes for near BBS with great lather and little alum feedback.

Gear
Canoe is a very nice AS and almost the same as Pinaud Clubman.

Other Thoughts
I had to take advantage of the WCS giveaway. A free razor handle and a free brush were worth it, I think.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Good shave Doug. Congratulations on the score!

Hope the weekend is treating you well!
