Shave Quality
Binned the Astra last night in favor of a new Astra for this morning. I received my R41 last night and figured that a new blade was called for. The 1305 whipped up a great, thick lather in my copper shave mug. The razor just mowed the whiskers down like knocking down bowling pins. It was such a nice easy shave that I opted for the third pass. I am solidly BBS with next to no irritation. I did get one pin prick of a weeper, which the alum fixed right up. The shave felt extremely close, but it wasn't at all rough. My face feels great today.
Gear
The R41 is an interesting razor. It does need a light touch to avoid getting bloody, but it also rewards that light touch with a fabulous shave. I can see why people say this is an aggressive razor. the gaps between the teeth are large enough for skin to fold up into them and get cut. However, like the Fatip Piccolo the razor doesn't
feel aggressive to me. It feels efficient. Razors like the Barbasol, which have less direct support on the edge of the blade feel aggressive to me probably due to the blade being allowed to flex and vibrate more. The teeth on the R41 do a great job of keeping the blade edge from moving during the shave.
Other Thoughts
I can't wait for the weekend.
Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.
