Czatching up Doug, all good reads, when I shaved with the Admiration I too noticed I had to make a pretty severe angle adjustment, after that smooth as silk

Every blade is a learning experience.

I think I am going to really like the edge once I get the hang of it and it settles down a bit.

Overview
After seeing Rich's 'Crat shave yesterday I decided to bring my own out to play.

The Aristocrat is a great shaver, like most of Gillette's DEs. It is a joy to shave with. However, today's shave was a little lacking. I am not sure if it was technique or the blade, but I came away CCS+/DFS- after three passes with a little more irritation than I am used to. It is not worth complaining about, but I do wish it had been better. maybe these Shark blades aren't for me.

Gear
Vintage Gillette FTW.

Other Thoughts
Last night I weighed my tub of Latha Oceana. It came in at 138 grams. So, in 8 shaves I consumed 14 grams of soap, or 1.75 grams per shave. I usually try for about 2 grams per shave. At the current rate it should take me about 79 more shaves to finish the tub. Time to start loading a little harder, I think.

In other news the 1305 is breaking in nicely. It should only be another month or so before it is completely broken in.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Sub-par shaves happen, but it sounds like you might have pinpointed what the issue might have been (blade). Great seeing the Aristocrat come out to play.

All caught up, Doug. That NEW SC is a great find! And regarding the Aristocrat, it's probably the blade. I've never had a lacking shave with the one I have - quite the contrary actually. I find that I prefer a little less sharp blade in mine, so no Feather for the 'crat for me.

BTW, I agree with your assessment of AoS creams - they're great performers and they have some excellent scents. I did, however, just get a travel size of the newer Bergamot & Neroli - the scent is just sort of "so so" - kind of a "soapy" thing going on.

I am inclined to think it is the blade also. It could have been bad technique, but Gillette TTOs are usually very easy to get to the proper angle. I just remember having better results with the Shark SS before. However, it has been a while since I last used one of those.

Good shave and picture Doug!

I don't have a Crat, YET! But yeah more than likely it was the blade.

Nice shave Doug. Latha Oceana is a really nice soap. I’m a little bummed that Will discontinued the Latha line, but there are plenty of awesome soaps out there.

Great shave, Doug! I never thought to weigh my soaps and calculate how long they might last. I probably have enough already to last the rest of my life, with some left over to put in my will!

Too bad about the sub par shave. I don't have the best luck with Sharks myself.

It is something that I picked up from the 3017 group over at the old site. It sometimes helps me make it to the end if I know about how long a tub will last.

Fatboy+Shark SC = a really great shave. Two passes for BBS- with little irritation and I have been a happy boy all day. Great lather. Great AS. It has been a great day.

Vintage Gillette FTW, again.

Bring on the weekend. It has been a busy and tiring week.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Nice shave Doug! I might have to start weighing my soaps before and after use to determine how much I'm using per shave...I love metrics like that.

Two passes for BBS- was the name of the shave today. The Ever-Ready was a bit harsh, but it really got the job done. I have the tiniest bit of residual irritation on my neck, but nothing out of the ordinary. It was a good shave.

Gear
The GEM SE blade is one of the best shaving implements ever created.

Happy Saturday.

Good shave Doug!

Guess that’s why they called it the Ever-Ready and not the Ever-Smooth? ?

Getting caught up Doug. Looks like two good shaves! Hope your weekend was enjoyable.
