Starting to need some work...

Got myself to BBS- today, but it took some buffing to get there. The blade is still cutting, but it is getting less efficient. I may have to put it back on the DE hone before the end of the month. The lather was great and the irritation is low. It was a very good shave.

Gear
The Treet Black is going downhill, but it can probably be salvaged. I think it may be possible to get 100+ shaves out of a carbon steel blade if one is able to maintain and refresh the blade.

Other Thoughts
11+ hour spent on Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild yesterday. It was a good day of video gaming.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

I don't have any of those. I have several stones that are shaped to hone both sides of a DE at the same time.

If you want to use glass to hone a DE, just use the inside curve of a drinking glass.

You can hone a DE on a glass? Never knew that.
Yup. If you are familiar with honing straight razors at all, you know that one of the first steps to resetting the bevel is to "glass the edge" to give a good starting point. A glass hone works on the same principal, just in reverse. Rather than use the glass to blunt the edge the inside of the curve is used to repair/refresh the edge. There should be YouTube videos out there to show how to glass hone a DE blade. Please note that this technique was meant to be used with carbon steel blades, not stainless ones. Stainless tends to hold its edge much better, so while it may work on stainless, it works better with carbon.

The blade needed a refresh...

Shave Quality
BBS- again today, but it took a ton of work to get there. And the blade was tugging. My face feels fine now, but there was a bit of irritation afterwards. As usual, the lather was top notch.

Gear
The blade needed a refresh today, so after the shave I gave it one. This time I used a straight sided drinking glass and a bit of isopropyl alcohol. Make sure the blade gets wet in the alcohol then press it into the curve of the inside of the glass and rub it back and forth a handful of times. Flip and then do it again. We will see how well it shaves tomorrow.

October 9 Judas Priest will be in Denver at the Mission Ballroom with Sabaton. Tickets went on sale this morning. I am going with my metalhead friend Sam. He an I are going to have a blast. 🤘

The glass honing thing sounds pretty neat.

Pretty rad on scoring Priest tickets! I saw them twice a few years back....actually more than a few years now!

Shave Quality
The blade was almost as good as new today. It really mowed down the whiskers. There is a bit of residual irritation, but that may be from too much buffing. The LEA lather was stellar as usual.

Gear
Glass honing a carbon steel blade will refresh the edge. Good stuff.

Now I see that tickets for They Might Be Giants will be going on sale tomorrow. I am going to have to take the wife to that. It is the Flood 30th Anniversary show.

It was an easy BBS today. The blade is still going strong after the glass honing. The lather was great. All good in the hood.

Gear
No complaints.

If you take care of the blade it will keep performing for you. The Treet Black gave me a great shave today with some fabulous LEA Classic lather. I am BBS with a bit of irritation from the blade buffing, but it is not too bad. All in all it was a great shave.

Gear
All good.

Other Thoughts
Sleep is good. I definitely need more than six hours a night.

Sounds like some great gear. The razorock 400 is one of my favorites to use.

Except for a scrape on my neck, it was an excellent shave. The lather was stellar. The blade was sharp. I am BBS. Great stuff.

The Hawk is a little too light for my tastes. It is a great razor, but it is easy to press too hard with it.
