New battery, new alternator.....repairs are expected with age but 100,000 is nothing nowadays.
This is the car that in January of 2018 broke its timing chain. Luckily that didn't damage the engine much. Something like that leaves one wondering what is going to happen next. The car has been really reliable, so I am not too worried. However, this will be the third battery for this vehicle which could mean something is not right with the electrical system. But, then again, maybe I am paranoid.

Oh I see. Take it and get the electrical tested. Free at any of the chain auto parts stores. Maybe alternator isn't charging or other issue bit at least you'll know. What make model?

Overview
A shavette day

Shave Quality
As often happens the shavette punched me in the face repeatedly today. I only gave myself 3 pinhole sized weepers, but there is a good deal of lasting razor burn. The lather was thick and rich, and too dense for straight shaving on the first pass. I added more water for the second which improved things. Let's call it DFS+ in two passes with this beast.

Gear
The Sanguine Coolcut is a really interesting barber razor since it uses Injector blades. It actually gave me a decent shave all things considered. It did not cut my face to ribbons, but it probably had the potential to do so. Some of the roughness of the shave had to be due to the Personna Injector that I used. I need to try this with a Schick Proline or one of the Chinese Schick blades. I would say that this is one of the better shavettes that I have used.

Other Thoughts
Tonight is the company holiday party...

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

I never have good luck with straights shavettes or the like. Sorry it bit you like it did but it sounds like the shave was good despite the mishaps!

The Sanguine is a nice razor! Not a fan of the half length blade though. I used a Personna too when I tried one, it was a little rough like your shave.

Ya, what the heck with that? Only half the blade is showing?
It’s like the Monsignor Charles, where instead of having a short blade holder, to fit the size of the blade, they give it a faux full sized holder to make the razor “normal” SR size.

Shave Quality
Today's shave had all the blade feels, and I mean all the blade feels. The shave was full-on BBS with tons and tons of razor burn as well as a couple of pinprick weepers. The PAA CK-6 lather was spot on and there was about 3-4 shaves worth of it. The razor, however, needs a lighter touch than I used today. I may need to let my face rest for a day.

Gear
This is a brand new razor for me. I got it on a Black Friday deal from Fendrihan. It is a very well built DE. The cap and base plate have a really close fit. The handle is great quality. This razor is easily worth the MSRP of $80. (It is available at the this link: Fendrihan Stainless Steel Safety Razor with Black Matte PVD Coated Head, Limited Edition.) When I saw the blade exposure and the size of the lather slots, I knew this was going to be an aggressive razor. It may be the most aggressive razor that I own, and I have a Mulhe R41 and 2 Patip Piccolos. This beast needs a re-he-healy (yes, I have been watching a ton of Scrubs lately.) light touch and you will want to ride the cap.

Other Thoughts
Did a small bit of house cleaning tonight. Getting rid of a bunch of stuff that I no longer use to make room in my basement to setup a permanent honing station for my straights. Hopefully this will encourage me to spend more time with my stones.

Yikes! Sorry for the rough shave!

Hows the QC on the razor...those lather slots look a little jagged, or is that purposeful?

I was thinking the same thing about the jagged look of the lather slots. What benefit would dong that on purpose be. Just looks like not so good machining to me. Glad you survived the "Beast"

Optical illusion. It does look jagged in that photo, but in the what's new thread you can actually see the grooves better. It does look a little like some are either cut slightly deeper, or there was a small bit of burr left though. Sounds like it'd be a bit too aggressive for my tastes, but it does look damn good.
