It was a rough shave that eventually settled down to good feeling skin. It was BBS, but not a comfortable one.

Gear
MWF is very slick and has good skin conditioning, but it lacks protection. I had all the blade feels for this shave.

Shave Quality
The shave was pretty good. It wasn't the best that I have had, but it was far from the worst too. It was BBS in two passes. And my face feels good a few hours later.

Gear
Haslinger is not quite as slick as many of the artisan soaps that I have tried from Josh's PIF. It performs well in all other areas, though. This soap might be a Tier 2 given all of the fabulous artisan soaps out there. At ~$9 for a 60 gram puck, the price is decent. It lacks in the post-shave conditioning a little bit too.

Other Thoughts
It is nice getting back to 3017ing. I am going to enjoy several weeks of Haslinger.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Wow! This is the first negative comment I've ever read about Haslinger - the original w/tallow, that is. My puck of Schafmilch is one of the slickest soaps out there for me, and I really should use it more often. However, I have not tried the recently reformulated version of Haslinger that no longer contains tallow. Is this the new one? Or the original version?

I think it is the newer version. I will have to double check.

Of the 3 Haslinger pucks that I have 2 (Sage and Aloe) are the new formula. The Schafmilch puck that I have is tallow.

Haslinger Sage Day 2

Shave Quality
Today was a better shave. I loaded heavy and used a ton of water ending up with about 8 or 9 passes worth of lather. That was a bit more wasteful than I was intending, but it did vastly improve the shave. I walked away BBS- with a bit of irritation on the chin and neck.

Gear
The Haslinger new formula is okay as a shave soap. I think that I will call it either Box 4 or Box 5 on the Vargo Soap Scale, so it is on the line between Tier 1 and Tier 2. The score will probably change a bit as my 3017 goes on.

The Karve (thanks @Dave in KY) is a very good piece of hardware. I need to get more plates for it. I have C, D, and F. I also want to try the OC plates for it.

Other Thoughts
Quest Protein Bars are awesome snacks on a low carb diet.

Never ever have I tried Haslinger but I think I have a puck or two coming tomorrow in my order from Italian barber.
I hope you like it. I think it performs very well, but I am also spoiled from all the truly elite soaps that I got from @Dagwoodz. I am sure that all that great soap has colored my impressions of the Haslinger.

Shave Quality
Today's shave was almost an exact re-do of yesterday's shave. BBS-ish with some minor irritation. I think today had less than yesterday, however.

Gear
After three days of Haslinger I can say that I am really not impressed with the veggie formula that Haslinger is using now. A year or two ago I would probably have really liked this soap. It has decent cushion and slickness during the shave. It just really lacks that post-shave conditioning that I am getting used to with higher-end soaps. It seems like there is little or no superfatting going on in this soap, or something like that. Also, there is next to no scent in this soap. I really like having nice smells while I shave.

The Karve with a Baili Super Blue blade is working quite well for me. Maybe I just have good luck with blades or something, but I don't think this one is bad. Perhaps tomorrow a new blade and razor is called for.

Other Thoughts
I have really taken advantage of the den cleanings that have been going on around TSC lately. I have taken so much advantage that I may need to do my own den cleaning. 🤣

Haslinger Sage Day 4

Shave Quality
Today's shave went well, but I was left with some lasting razor burn. The shave was BBS, and still is mostly, but oh the irritation. I want to place blame on the soap, but I did change to a new blade and my post-shave was a little different.

Gear
The more that I use this soap, the more I think it is solidly Tier 2. I don't think I will be keeping Haslinger on my list of soaps to restock.

The Polsilver SI blade felt smoother than the Baili to start, but the large amount of irritation that I had post shave has me wondering.

Other Thoughts
I spent the day rebuilding my phone. It was freezing up and crashing and so I reset it to factory. That really sucked. So far, however, my phone is behaving better. In the end it was worth it.
