Pretty OK shave. Little bit of blood but nothin major. The Speick help seal everything up and my face isn’t feeling half bad. This edge had been feeling a bit rough since I gave it a few (probably too many) laps on the pasted strop. Once my hone shows up I’ll give it the ole college try and hope I don’t completely ruin the edge.
Have a good night Cadre!

I had @uacowboy hone my first straight. It probably didn't take long for me to jack it up with whatever nonsense I did. It took some practice, reading, and learning. I got the edge back for the most part, just not as silky smooth as when Kyle did it; I still need more practice for that.

I am looking forward shaving with Kyle’s edge, got a little something cooking. I am however less enthusiastic about shaving with what ever I produce the first few time I attempt to hone. Lol Like you say... For Science!!

Nice shave tonight. All felt pretty smooth besides a few areas that were still irritated from last night’s shave with the Karve D plate. I’ve read many people say the Karve is a super smooth operator, but right now I’m not convinced. Anyway, back to today’s shave... The Zingari Sego base continues to treat me right, great slickness and easy lathering. I continue to be impressed with the knot in the Semogue 610 although the handle tends to get very slippery and want to jump out of my hand while lathering. First time using Stetson AS and it’s ok. It has no alcohol and castor oil is high up in the ingredient list and left my face feeling rather greasy. I may have just used too much. The scent is pleasant, maybe kind of powdery or something? I dunno. I’ll probably use it again tomorrow.
Straight shave 56 marks the completion of @BarberDave Dave’s straight razor tutorial. Thank you for putting that together, it was great to be able to take baby steps and then put it all together at the end. Much appreciate!
Next up is learning to hone. I’ve got a 6” x 3” Jasper that I recently purchased and immediately took a shavable edge and dulled the hell out of. Nowhere to go but up from here I guess. I have read that with a bevel setter and the Jasper one can produce a very sharp and comfortable edge so I’ve got some learnin to do.

Yea, Stetson was just OK for me too. Different scent, but along the lines of Paul Sebastian, a bit heavy and synthetic but not bad. I just didn’t reach for it very often. A little goes a long way. I ended up passing it along.

Took a tiny corner of my mustache off with the Lupo and it was all the excuse I needed to pull the Capitol out to take the rest of it off. Face feel much cleaner now. The Dollar General blade felt smooth during the shave but after the first glug of Speick I noticed about a dozen little weepers appear. Nothing a second glug could take care of through. I’m still at a loss of what to name the Graydog but the stark contrast to Semogue is quite nice. They provide completely different experiences that are equally enjoyable. Anyway, a great shave almost ruined by a bad blade.
G’night Cadre!

Had second thoughts about using it today. It was just way too greasy feeling. The scent wasn’t too bad just too much oil for my liking.

Good Reads John, I plan on doing a honing Zoom or Tutorial soon but with a Coticule Dilucot / TransArk Diluark method
