All of my gear played well together for an easy 1+ pass shave this morning. Daily one passers with a few touch-ups have become the norm lately.

I splurged this week on an $11 Stetson Christmas gift set at the local drugstore. The scent's not anything like I remembered, and it's certainly not fit for a self-respecting cowpoke. It's synthetic and one-dimensional when applied, but it dries down to be quite pleasant with powder, vanilla, tonka, and (eventually) barbershop notes. It rated an "OK" from my Bride. I'll use it up, but it won't be a re-buy. It shouldn't last long as neither bottle has a flow-restricting orifice, so I'm definitely applying it in don't be that guy quantities.

I've made one Black Friday purchase so far from Stirling. I decided against a spare bottle of (the now discontinued) Aramis Tobacco Reserve. My current bottle will last for years, and I've spotted a couple of other possibilities that I might opt for eventually.

My basement organization is pretty much complete. The next step is to set up a couple more sections of wire shelving to get the rest of my containers off the floor.

I've been on a movie kick the past few days. My buddy and I recently saw No Time to Die. It was a little short on wristwatch closeups, but it was worth seeing. Daniel Craig is my second favorite James Bond actor. It took me awhile to warm up, and he's nowhere near Sir Sean Connery. I understand Craig's portrayal is more like the books, but I've always preferred Connery's classy and witty 007 character. Plus, Sean rocked a Rolex Submariner. If the Bond story continues as I suspect, I'll stick to the reruns.

My Bride and I saw King Richard yesterday. A few scenes caught my attention for different reasons and even elicited some laughter. Will Smith did a good job, but he's also not in contention with Sean Connery or Tom Hanks as my all-time favorite actors.

Our Christmas tree has been up for a few days. I don't like to brag, but it has a remote control for the light settings. :) I still prefer the real trees from when I was a kid...with the big, hot colorful light bulbs. Didn't nuthin' have remote controls back in them days. 😂

We're enjoying Thanksgiving leftovers (pork roast & pumpkin pie), and Louisville Cardinal basketball and football this weekend. My Bride is the sports enthusiast, and she loves her games.

That's it for now. Hope you all are having a wonderful and relaxing weekend.

Grace and Peace.

Regrettable, for sure.

Concur. Nothing beats those early movies like Thunderball and Goldfinger (my personal favorites).

Excellent post, Charlie. I am a Connery fan, too. Daniel Craig in Casino Royale is outstanding, but then again, so is the movie.

Thanks gentlemen. It just doesn't get any better than this.

Casino Royale was a much needed shot in the arm. I'd give a shout out to Skyfall as well...
Please don't mention Spectre...

Iconic shot (even with a too-skinny strap)...but I'd take Craig's Planet Ocean, fwiw...

Hello Cadre!

I've been shaving along with the same set up for the past few days. I added some Mike's Hungarian Lavender to my rotation, bringing my soaps in rotation up to a total of five.

We completed all of our Christmas shopping over the past week. My Bride loves to decorate and actually has most of the room layouts in our house configured on an iPad app. She wanted a new swivel rocker. We shopped (action shots below), and she ordered one with the fabric she wanted. The color will be none other than Mushroom! The furniture salesman applauded her color choice and pointed out (correctly) that I have absolutely no skill in coordinating fabric colors. :ROFLMAO:

We also made a trip to Bardstown, KY for a few Christmas items including two fruitcakes and several blocks of Walnut Chocolate fudge from the Abbey of Gethsemani. The fruitcakes are the good ones that are heavily soaked in good ole Ky bourbon.

The highlight of the week, however, was that our doc took Kathy off the crutches and out of her boot! She had a stress fracture in her foot/ankle (the talus bone) and had been wearing the boot for eight weeks. We were blessed to learn that it is healing nicely and that she's able to walk short distances normally.

The sun poked out today, and I met a longtime friend for lunch. Afterward, my Bride and I ran some errands which included picking up a 1.75 liter (or ~0.13 Hubble-barn) bottle of Irish Cream, a necessary coffee additive when the weather turns cool. Like this afternoon, for instance. 😉:coffee:

@woodpusher...in the hills of Kentucky, we measure volume in liters, not litres, and sometimes even Hubble-barns. Murica!

That's all folks!

Grace and Peace.

Man, solid update Charlie!

My bro! The yummy goodness of a decent fruitcake and walnut fudge is inestimable! Too many haters out there. 😎👍

That's great news. Now comes the fun part: PT. (y)
Thanks Bruce. Yes, the PT started while she was wearing the boot. She removed it during the day for various stretching exercises. Her foot and ankle are sore, but she's walking short distances already.

Kathy's a warrior. She's a three-time cancer survivor. Most recently, she had a stem cell transplant in 2020. She's in remission and is doing great. In the big scheme of things, the stress fracture was just a minor nuisance.

Thanks Chris!

I don't know many people that like (good) fruitcakes. I'm glad to see you are one of the few and the proud. ;)

Kathy's Mom made wonderful homemade fruitcakes, and she taught me as well. Here's the secret family recipe. 🤫 The handwriting and stains from actual use are mine. It's best to age it three or four weeks covered in cheese cloth, placed in a cool, dark place, and periodically drizzled with a favorite spirit. Depending on the year, we've used bourbon or some type of fruity wine...both are good!

Once you've purchased all the ingredients to make a fruitcake, you know why the good ones cost $40 or more.
