Chad's adventures of shaving, officiating, and life

Oh yes also forgot to add. The lease was up on my little hybrid. And while I loved the car it was just too small and not practical to haul kids around. Megan and I took it on a 4.5 hour trip one way and quickly realized it's not even comfortable with a passenger. So I traded it in and got the 2021 Kona. This fits the family better as our secondary vehicle and still gets respectable gas mileage for my football travel, and is AWD which will be nice for winter.IMG_20210120_131048208.jpg

I vote for the North Rim of the canyon there Chad. Both sides are impressive. I think the higher elevation and vegetation make for a better experience. Also it seemed less crowded and more un-spoiled. If you have a real adventurous spirit and a vehicle capable of getting back in there. Check out Toroweap. It is awesome and very few people make the trek back in. My daughter and I were by ourselves the entire night and day we spent out there. Primitive camping as in Naked and Afraid type. Bring you own TP and look out for critters. 1611179838168.png

After finishing up the LNHC soap I decided to grab the CBL Master Barber ManThol soap. Its a freeze your face off but i'm really enjoying it, the lather is superb and I obviously went from one great soap to another. So yes I am continuing this 3017 adventure.

Homefront:

Nothing crazy to really report. We are in the heart of the basketball season and I am almost done just roughly 3 more weeks to go. Then I will be switching to football mode as I have a few people I am mentoring and I have promised to spend a lot of time reviewing film to help them advance. Also helped get both of my grandparents signed up so they will be getting their covid vaccine. It is nice to see an end in sight. Hope you are all doing well.

So I figured I'd put the update here. Shaves are going well FYI

Anyways last Thursday I was working a basketball game and during a fast break went to turn and run and heard/felt a pop. There was 50 seconds left in the half so I hobbled up and down and finished the half. In the locker room I asked for the trainer. She believed no ligament damage but wasn't sure. Did some stretches, taped it up, and stupidly finished the game.

That evening my doctors office has extended hours and they got me in. Doctor also believed no ligament damage but wanted me to go to TOSH (orthopedic specialty hospital) it is a well renowned hospital here in Utah that a lot of athletes go to for rehab, surgery, etc. That appt was this morning.

At 6:30 AM! Ugh!!!! Anyways had two appts technically one with a surgeon and one for therapy.

The surgeon did a low imaging scan not sure what that is but essentially a step below a MRI. I think it was a glorified ultrasound of sorts but no man wants to be told they are getting an ultrasound. Anyways he said that my calf is torn, ligaments in tact, and the tear is about 20%. He said no surgery at this time but I need the therapy. Therapist session was well painful. But he said if I stick to it. He thinks I'll be ready for contact again end of April.

So I'm on crutches hobbling along and in pain. But the road to recovery has been defined.
