CBLindsay's brain droppings

That was a nice read @CBLindsay, sorry for whatever that bad news was and hope it passes.

Thanks for taking the curtain back a bit and being so straight about where you are right now.

I'm just ignoring the part about the coffee, you already got me going down the hole into straights. I'll just imagine the smell of your fresh brewed blend next time I have a shave with California Sunrise.

Nice looking razor. Never seen one of those before. Sorry you’ve been having some troubles, I’m glad you could share a bit.

Cadre brother down! Sorry Chris, we're always here.

Why in the world wouldn't you chronicle your coffee stuff here??

The truth is, at the same time I began the DE/Penhaligon's journey I had received some news that had me in no mood to even get up in the morning let alone risk life and limb with an open blade razor.
Yikes. If there is anything I can do to help, please send me a message. I hope that whatever it was, that it is getting better.

Hope things improve soon on the home front, CBL.......And yeh, I'll second the sentiment on wanting to hear more about the coffee stuff.

That is a sweet looking razor. Congrats on wiping out that tub! Hope things improve for you soon.

That Schick is slick.... I've been on the lookout for one, but never see them.

One on the bay right now for $220 😎
It is really cool. I got mine for about $100 (maybe a little less) and it is in excellent condition. The only other one I saw when I found mine was closer to the $200 mark and listed as being new old stock in a box. Apparently these were originally made and sold in Japan. I was surprised to find it and just couldn't resist.

Sorry about the bad news but congrats on taking down the soap. And yeah that's a sweet razor

You are in my prayers brother! Great update and about this coffee roasting stuff. Please don’t talk to my Boss lady she is already a coffee nut.

Very sweet razor, Chris. Sorry to hear about the bad news, and hope the funk recedes soon.

I’ve long admired that razor. I have a deep personal identification with mild to moderate depression. We’re all here for you brother!

It's strange to admit but I have not touched a "traditional" straight for the better part of a month. Most of my shaves have been with the Japanese Schick, Weck Sexto and the odd Schick injector. More recently I have test driving @Dave in KY 's Weck Stainless Steel Single Edge BEAST. I have wanted one for a long time and Dave happened to have one on hand so he sent it to me to test out. It took a couple shaves to get it totally figured out but now that I have found its optimal angles I am getting super smooth results with no effort. I definitely want one now. The sextobalde size is a little bigger than the feather ac type blade so the amount of beard removed with each stroke is massive. The length of the blade is no problem at all when used in a straight razor type set up but as a hand held single edge safety razor there is a tendency for the head to want to rotate a bit if your hold is not proper. Fortunately the design of the handle provides for just the grip needed. I am a fan of the hairshaper/sextoblade feel and function so this is a no brainer. I had considered picking up a Vector or one of the other premium single edges on the market but I think I will hold out for one of these babies.

Other than rotating among 3-4 brushes, I haven't been changing things up much. I've been using Stirling's newest release Varen for about a week now, the scent is enjoyable and unique and of course the performance is super consistent. I picked up a sample 1oz of this scent and another but it looks like this sample will last the rest of the month. If i decided to use up my Stirling samples I would have at least a year of use before I run out.

There has been a lot happening on the homefront, some good and some not so much. My wife decided we should celebrate father's day this last Sunday because we have conflict this Sunday. My wife and kids got me a new electric smoker box from Costco but it has yet to be delivered (love it when people decide actually DOING what they are hired to do is an option, the delivery people were supposed to deliver monday but they have gone silent). I look forward to smoking EVERYTHING I can get my hands on. If it gets delivered today I might be able to smoke a tri-tip for dinner.
