CBLindsay's brain droppings

Caught up, Chris. Great stuff, and I agree the packaging looks great. I especially dig the inclusion of the clan crest!

Straight Shave #832

Woke up a bit later than I had planned this morning so I opted to use the General. The soap for this morning was LNHC's OLD premium soap in Somali Rose. There is a clear difference in post shave feel between the old and the new versions but the relative scent strength is the same. The Somali rose is a scent that is easier for me to detect so i enjoyed it very much. While sniffing the soap this morning I realized something I had never really recognized...Lisa's Natural HERBAL creations, the scents all have an herbal type vibe. The scents are layered on top of the herbal, they are within the herbal (I know, that sounds confusing but it was my revelation so it makes sense to me)

The shave went very well. Superfast, 3 quick passes yielded a BBS that is STILL BBS 6 hours later. I must say, if i had could never use a straight razor again, the feather blade style SE razors (the general) would be my go to.

I am sad to report that Frankie, my rooster, has died. Looks like the pigeon invasion over the summer brought Newcastle to the farm. I have lost 3 fowl including the old man Frankie. If there is any good news, I seem to have put a dent in the pigeon population utilizing a selective poisoning technique (40grain hollow point from 200 yards). Frankie's demise means the local quarantine is extended another 120 days, hopefully winter puts an end to the drama.

Sorry to hear about Frankie.

Have a great time taking your revenge as you pop off the nuisance pigeons!

A fowl quarantine? Like they can't go out in public like to the park or the mall?

Nice shave with LNHC...Somali Rose is one of my favorites from her as well. Sorry to hear about Frankie...

Interesting, as I think that the premium version SOS is much better/stronger than the original.

Bummer about Frankie. Any plans for another one day? Maybe train it to run around in sneakers?

Straight Shave #836

It has been a little while since I have update my shaving journal so I figured I should get everyone caught up...

Obviously one of the most important updates is to mention that I have opened up a webstore to sell my CBL soaps. This was something I had not really considered doing until rather recently. The work that went into doing this was significant so I can't really say I did it on a whim, but I really wasn't anticipating taking the leap. I think I have started things on the right direction but i know I will need to make a few adjustments to product labeling (better labeling) and possibly enhance the product line-up. Other than acknowledging and thanking those who have or will choose to buy my soaps, I will not say much more here in my journal about this project.

On the shaving front...I have enjoyed a few great shaves and a couple disappointing ones. Certainly the most recent Feather Pro blade incident will go down in the books as a less than enjoyable shave. I have used a variety of soaps, not just my own. I, like y'all, enjoy the variety of soaps in my den and am still rotating what I use. Making my own soaps I am able to scratch the itch for unique scents but I still desire different kinds of lathers and experiences.

I will be embarking on a new project soon, re-honing all of my more than 100 blades. most don't need to be honed but i need to get a handle on which ones are honed well and which are in need of work. I will also (at my wife's insistence) be preparing some razors for sale. SWMBO has "suggested" I sell 5 or 6 and i am obliged to do so because I have recently arranged for a couple NEW additions. Perhaps a one in 3 out ratio is needed to get me a more acceptable razor count.

I also need to get working on collecting samples for the new TSC Soap Sample Library. I have the sample jars and a new labeler (that i can't figure out) so I have no excuses.
