Brew's Foul Concoction

I pooched my shave this morning. I fully intended to try out one of the new oud oils, but I grabbed the wrong bottle of AS. Draggon Noir and Clubman Musk, decanted, look very similar, fyi. By the time I noticed that the AS I just splashed on was not as sweet as usual, as I expect Musk to be, it was too late. And Draggon Noir does not mix well with oud, imo, at all. Quick pivot to the Zoologists's Civet, which did just fine. I'll have to try the oud later this afternoon, as Civet will complete alter the fragrance when they mix. Oh well.

...and now we know why you work in a basement next to a large fish tank.
But seriously, I’ve never considered pairing any zoologists scents with anything else because they all seem so powerful by themselves. I might have to give that a try to see how they change and evolve.

Straight up EO hm? I wonder how many people actually have reactions to straight EO use or how true the disclaimers are to always properly dilute EOs with carrier oils.

Humans have been anointing themselves with oil since before biblical times, including oud. I'll use it later, after my swim. If I'm not posting later, send for help, the oud got me. ☠

Be safe and use a floaty

This is how I want to apply Tabac. I've asked the gym a number of times about the lap pool. The old ladies don't seem to mind the suggestion, they say the place will smell like their handbags . . . .

No Rash of Biblical Proportions, yet, fyi. This oud is about the thickest fresh oil I've ever encountered. Some think the oil's viscosity helps determine its longevity. This oil started with a nutty and woodsy blast of oud that surprised me. Normally the thick black oils have a darker, almost oily or diesel-y fragrance that can be intoxicating. The markoke oils can get like this. But this one is from a jungle in Thailand, which I'm not as familiar with. It moved from nuts and woods to a sweeter, almost jam-like syrupy fruity fragrance, that's now playing really nicely with the Clubman Musk. This one is a winner so far.

Yes, and the also didn't have deodorant. You know, just to keep things in perspective. ;) Though, I'm sure if you need to cover up the scent of a 20 day trek through the desert and local donkeys, that would do the trick.

I understand many of the oils have purported health benefits when applied in specific places or combinations. I wouldn't venture a guess as to what different Oud oils might do but I am willing to guess the ones that smell the strongest have the most mojo in them. Unless the stinky ones are for covering the stench of the dead and the less stinky ones are for the living... I might have it backwards. You better check in with us a little later to let us know you're ok.

I thought TAOS oud balm might be able to subtly "man-up" Shalimar. Before my shave today, I thought that might be a neat thing to try. Shalimar responded, "pffft, been around for ages, young man, you don't change me." Normally, this balm can hold its own, but the Shalimar just swallowed it whole. Made it scentless. There are other metaphors to be used here, but they make me uncomfortable. In any case, after a hike with the dog during with I warmed up a bit and the fragrance warmed with me, I concluded the juice is right. It doesn't need to be changed or manned up. Nonetheless, Habit Rouge is on the way. I'm looking forward to a comparison.

Broke out the warm fedora for my hike.

Nice stuff Larry. Enjoy the hike
My hikes with this dog alone were nerve racking for the longest time. When I had 3, or even 2, this one would stay with the others. Now that he's alone, he takes off, often for almost the whole hike. Today he stayed with me for about 20 mins, then was gone. Found him at the truck when I got out of the woods. This used to freak me out a bit. Now I know he'll turn up, so the walks aren't quite so traumatic. lol.

This was the pack, likely after a similar hike.

It's clear who wasn't top dog. lol.

Nice fedora Larry and great pic of the pooches!

I may not appreciate their products as much as I used to, but I do love AOS’s scentings!

Thanks Chris. I guess folks can knock AoS for their prices, but I think this is one of those, "you get what you pay for" companies. Their software is a top notch performer, imo. The lemon cream made me quit soaps. I also have one of their straights. It's a TI, but it's also top notch, imo.

I tried a tiny swipe from one of the oud sample that came this week. It's called "Aroha Extraordinaire." Normally ouds with "aroha" in the name are incense bombs. This one is no different, except that it also is an intense smoke bomb. I made my living room smell like I had a fire in the fireplace yesterday. And then the sweet tobacco hit. Seriously. I know what I'm using for tomorrow's shave!

Broke out my fedora for work last week. Got a few "that's different" looks while walking through the parking lot, but it's a trucking company so I guess long wool trench coats and fedoras are not attire anyone is used to seeing, whether office staff, warehouse workers, or truckers.
