Brew's Foul Concoction

I forgot that it was Castle Forbes lavender soap that sent me on my most recent lavender kick. I've tried a bunch since. Although some may perform as well, none smell like real lavender like CF. A couple of years ago I dropped by my neighbors across the street to help Bruce with some heavy lifting. Kathy had some fresh cut/dried lavender from a local farm on the kitchen table in a small bunch. It was the flower form of CF lavender. Exactly the same. When the CF arrived yesterday I knew I was in for a treat this morning. Great shave, and what a fragrance! Open the lid, and it immediately fills the bathroom. Leave it sit on the counter while you go to the gym or for a run, and most of the first floor of my house is a lavender wonderland.

The touch up to the Geneva Cut. razor was spot on.

I picked up a 1k hone to try to fix some of my kitchen knives. They are all garbage and have been poorly treated. I don't hold out much hope that they'll be fixed, but we'll see. I have to watch some vids. though, I know nothing abut sharpening knives, other than via a Lansky device, which is a cumbersome pain to use. Especially when your knives are as far gone as these. I may just have to start fresh . . . .

Love those fill-the-room scented soaps! Just icing on the experience. Good job touching up the razor! I’d imagine if you can do that, a knife edge should be cake, as long as it’s not serrated.

No problems with the edge on the big, old W&B wedge I used this morning. Nice Monday shave with my favorite Monday shaving cream. I used to use Tabac for Mondays, until I leaned about Castle Forbes lavender. Now that CF is back in the bathroom, my Mondays can start correctly again, for the most part. I still have to fix (have fixed) a problem with my Monday razor, which has been out of commission for a while.

The Stirling brush I learned about here at TSC, I think from @CBLindsay , is a winner! It's not shedding any more, bristles are splitting nicely, and it is making some great lather. Thanks for the recommendation! Tabac AS and Habit Rouge were the rest of the software. Nice shave then; I still smell good now.

Hope you're enjoying your day.

That's a handsome suit! I'm glad the Stirling boar is treating you well.

These knives are so abused, they practically are serrated.
In the addiction recovery program where I work, the kitchen is run by some of the more responsible residents. Occasionally one of them has an idea that doesn't turn out so well(ie the infamous chicken gizzard pot pie debacle of 2015). We had no way of sharpening the knives for a long time, so one of them decided it would be a good idea to sharpen it on the concrete step outside the kitchen door. Nuff said.

Congratulations on your promotion, sir! Tradition has it that Sr. Shave Members keep the others stocked in soap and AS. Just sayin'.

Just stropped the razor for this morning's shave and it occurred to me that whereas I am very comfortable shaving the left side of my face with my left hand, all of these years later, after countless laps stropping my razors on multiple strops, I would NEVER strop a razor in my left hand. Huh?

Happy Thanksgiving TSC. I'm traveling in a bit to be with family. I hope you and yours enjoy the day.

Safe Travels Larry and have a great time with the family!
