Bourbon Country Shave Journal - Dave in KY

....I'm on a grail shave for smoothness and NO irritation or weepers even in my problem areas. Topped it off with GTB and will add some more as I head out the door....

Outstanding!!

Nice photo, Dave. And I hope that the brush knot comes around and starts to behave soon.

Very nice photo Dave. I dont have a Silvertip so idk what the issue with the brush is. Until very recently I was no badger brush for me now i have 4-5 that i use and one that i think may get a drop into a pif at some point.

Had and still do smewhere an Edwin Jagger Badger but just getting into them now. It's an Envy Shave Luxury Silvertip. I'm hopeful but not worried either. Thanks guys
What a great shave! Enjoy your day Dave!

Aren't you both getting fancy. I'll expect these regularly now guys. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Time to mow after over 2 weeks of rain and growth, Arrrrrgh

I had an Envy Shave Luxury Silvertip once - worst shedder I've ever owned.
Thanks for the encouragement and positive vibes Lol

Razor: Rockwell 6c Plate #5

Blade: PolSilver SI (4)

Brush: Eric Sorrentino Custom with 24mm 1/4 Moon Synthetic

Soap: CRSW Glide - Fragile Confusion
Aftershave 1: Thayers Lavender

Aftershave 2: Avon Tai Winds

So I remembered this time that this is a cream soap and loaded easier cause it's easy to have way too much product if not careful. This brush is not only beautiful but a joy to use. Got loads of lather and I have to say this is THE SLICKEST soap I've used. Unbelievable slickness. It's a light scent but pleasant and I tried to pay attention to the confusion part where it is supposed to come and go throughout the shave but I kept getting distracted by how slick it was. I seldom chase the BBS on the neck but it begged me to and the 6c lets you do it without danger of rawness. Yep, I'm swimming with dolphins baby !!

Topped everything off with some Thayers and then some Tai Winds. Love this scent but let me tell you, as much as I love the bottle it makes it a 2 hand operation because unlike the other bottles like the cars that have a flat front to set the bottle down that ain't happening with the boat. 1 hand to hold and pour into other hand that slaps some on face and repeat until fully doused.

Still getting used to the cpap and what sleep I am getting, I'm sure is deeper then before because I do feel at least part of the day to have a little more energy. I'm sure it takes awhile after literally years of deprivation ( I'm a little slow to go to doctors but doing better about that now)

Hope everyone in the Cadre is having a good weekend and is ready after today to tackle another week (Except Josh who is on groundhog day) !!

CRSW Glide is some really slick soap! I happen to like the select version also...but the Glide is really a notch above! That is weird about the Avon Boat. Usually all the bottles have a way to set it down without spilling. Anyway...you could always decant into another bottle and keep the boat for aesthetic purposes.

Hopefully you will come along better with the cpap. I know oxygen exchange while sleeping is EXTREMELY important. There is a technique that some people do while sleeping called mouth taping. The premise is to force you to breath through your nose thus getting the perfect amount of oxygen exchange! Those I have talked to have had wonderful success. I haven't decided if I want to try this yet...but it just illustrates how important oxygen is in our sleep. Just do me a favor. Keep that cpap clean! A lot of health issues can come about from bacteria in a cpap!

Thanks Don. Yes about the keeping it clean. I'm doing everything they say to do and most parts get replaced at certain intervals. 1 issue I'm struggling with is moisture getting into the mask intermitently which research says is because I like/need it cool in the room to sleep and the temp difference of the tubing can cause this. Still playing with adjustments to see if can dial it out.

Good shave Dave. Enjoy your Sunday!

I hope you get the cpap working soon. You’re long overdue on a good night’s rest!

I went on the CPAP this past January. It took about a month to get used to having a contraption on. I switched mask types also. And the pressure has been adjusted twice thus far. I think I need to get it adjusted again. But I think what you said is true about what sleep you do get is deeper than before. And as far as the mouth taping, I've read that that helps folk, but I've been reluctant to try it thus far; it just "seems" risky, at least in my mind.

Thanks Chris. I don't see the tape thing being necessary for me. The moisture seems to be the only issue for me and I'll get the humidifier dialed in to stop it. Nice to hear about others on it too and get feedback.
