So I was going to post something here in support of my house of Ravenclaw, but I just learned that the bird in our crest is an eagle, not a raven; and I’m going to need a minute to come to terms with that.

The house was named after a person... Rowena Ravenclaw. Ravenclaw's symbol is an eagle in the books and a raven in the films, though in the last film, an eagle does appear as the Ravenclaw mascot. Eagles are a symbol for a broader vision and strength of mind and heart.
