I put the Beehive away and started right in breaking in the SOC. It delivered the best lather yet from the Taconic, which is fair to middling at best. Why do I keep the badgers around? Synths and boars top them in performance almost every time.

My Badger brushes are in my den for the "face-feel". That's something synthetics have never-yet accomplished. I love my few boar brushes as well, and when they are broken-in, are amazing. Again, different face-feel, so I mix it up.

Agreed. Badgers can be prickly beasts or smooth as silk. Finding that Goldilocks brush is a treat.

SOC continues to break in nicely. I am steadily plowing through the Taconic Bay Rum glycerin soap. The soap is a solid ‘Meh’ for performance and even less for scent. Give me Ogallala any day. I will say that the Booster’s Polar Ice is really hitting a sweet spot. It does a great job as far as performance goes, and I like the scent better than Floïd Blue. So if you missed out on that classic, get some Polar Ice for a close approximation.

More than half of the soap is gone now, and I’m sticking with the SOC, fully broken in and in all its glory. FANTASTIC brush. Since the weather finally kinda sorta turned, I put the Polar Ice away and broke out my half bottle of Lucky Tiger. Great stuff.

I broke through the bottom of Taconic Bay Rum soap yesterday, and I’m pretty sure it won’t make it to Thanksgiving. I’m considering a partially used puck of Harris Windsor next. Lucky Tiger face tonic is doing a fine job as my AS. So the shaves are basic but effective. They aren’t sparking joy.
