beginish’s Eye on a Splintered Mind

Taconic Bay Rum is up now. It’s a full-blown glycerin soap, and I haven’t used one (other than in a stick) for almost 10 years. The first lathering didn’t perform the way QED or Mama Bear did, but it’s sat in reserve for 7-8 years. We’ll see how it goes.

My old favorite Rooney Heritage Beehive is on tap for awhile. I had several Rooneys over the years, and I sold or donated all but that one. In hindsight, that was a big mistake. Almost impossible to find new at this point. I had originally gone with Rooneys over Simpsons because of my contrary nature, but ultimately switched over. I kind of wish I hadn’t, or gone with something like Savile Row or Semogue or Kent.

Confession: I bought a new brush. This is my first brush purchase since 2014 at least. In fairness, my Semogue 1305 died this year when the knot came out of the handle. I was on Amazon doing some Christmas ordering (no kidding), and they had a Semogue Owner’s Club boar in Cherry handle for $27, and I couldn’t pass it up, since they’re usually north of $40. This will take some breaking in, and I look forward to the project.
