Kaizan vs Titans
CBL Barbershop ( Lemon & Bergamot )

Today, the face off was the #3 soap in the den vs our Kaizen fresh off losing to the #1 soap in the den. The hits keep on coming as our Japanese Muse now takes on CBL. Off the line they both have similar qualities to the lather build. Face feel is also very close but CBl's Tonsorial edges her out on the face feel by a bumper. Glide and cushion are also to close to call going into pass one. The post pass slickness both prior to rinse and post rinse give the CBL a bit more horsepower and lengthens the lead by about a car. Kaizen fights back as CBL misses a shift on the SOS scale, with Kaizen, even again as they enter the last lap. Post shave face feel and moisture goes to CBL, however, again very close. Based on overall performance Kaizen wins SOS and CBL in post pass and shave residual slickness. Have call a photo finish on this and a TIE.

The Shave:
The feather blade came into it own today with a wonderful performance 3-passes with some cleanup and DSBBS, very smooth. Speick quickly made the face feel wonderful, the Proraso talc played with with it, and topped is off with a few Vasilli's of the Speick EdT. Nice way to start the day.

With all the years I have been Traditional Shaving some 40+ years I can count on one hand when I feel I have truly has the perfect shave. Sure, I am lucky that the hardware I have, along with good choices in soaps, aftershaves, Talc and fragrances very often lead me to DSBBS in varying levels such as grail, and +10, however, few and far between are shaves that are DSBBS (G)(10)(P). With the "P" being for perfect. to qualify for this everything must align.... The hardware, software, soap, lather, performance, brush, aftershave, talc, passes razor, blade, slickness, post slickness, fragrance, SOS, all have to be in perfect unison. Also the shave must last long into the night, you must have the scent fo the shave tease you all day and you constantly want to faceturbate and admire the shave. That to me is "Shave Nirvana" That fleeting shave that is almost ZEN in nature. Unfortunately for Kaizen... Today was that day, and even knocked PCN off the podium for Top Star in the den. Yep... SV and Opuntia.

Sad as it is, Kaizen did not even get to leave the starting line as Opuntia engaged 1000 horses of pure defeat on our Japanese racer. SOS 4-5, ease of lather..5 In pass slickness..5, residual...5 on, and on and on. As the Kaizen Crew rolled her back into the garage Saponificio Varsino simply stated:

Not much else to say other than 3-passes and a perfect shave. Perfect razor and blade as the feather settled in, talc aftershave an a bespoke fragrance, I use rarely as it was made for me in a small shop in Florence so I was in heaven today. Here are the current standings in the battle
1. Saponificio Varesino Opuntia
2. PCN
3. Ethos
4. CBL / Kaizen ( TIED)

Many congratulations. I've had shaves like that of which you speak, and they are special, special things. I only regret I wasn't able to watch it, but perhaps that is for the best. Surely the act of presenting a shave ultimately presents a small compromise in the experience - a gratuity to your viewers to be sure, but a perfect shave is perhaps even moreso because it is unmediated by such concerns. Just you, your tools, and perfect harmony. I congratulate you again!

What is in this mysterious bespoke Italian fragrance and which city did you get it in? I'm almost positive that Venessa will demand that we go back in the near future.

Back to just regular SOTD's.. No challenges, not shootouts, just my favorite shaves. @dangerousdon is doing his theme thing again, and no better way to stay cool that with a Creeper. 3-passes today DSBBS with some talc and the Bayolea and all was good for a surface of the sun day here in Sunspot Tucson.

Nice Mid-morning shave today and in keeping with @dangerousdon 's July Themes, a cold shave with a bit of heat. CBL's Iron Throne is very unique in that you feel and smell the heat of a forest fire in a pine/juniper patch, but the menthol and WS-12 cooling agents douse the flame. Like getting hit with a drop bucket from a Fire Helicopter. Probably on of the most unique combinations and feelings in a soap. A new, well not so new 2015, razor that looks more like a meat slicing banjo that a razor kept me apprehensive for the 1st pass....Actually all three. However as @Spider mentioned it was indeed a "piece of cake".

3 passes followed by the North Aftershave splash, some Proraso Talc and a obscene number of Vasilli's of the Juniper Sling, and ready to face this 110+ degree day... Yes meaning I will not be leaving the house, LOL
