Dave - I really enjoyed your video tonight, and I thought your comments were very well considered. I've been a frequenter of shaving forums for a decade now, and it has always fascinated me how such a long-standing conflict can exist between people who are necessarily giving a very personal opinion, and others who interpret it as a declaration of an inarguable truth. No single phrase in wet shaving is repeated more than YMMV, yet the tension persists. My take is that shaving is an intensely intimate and personal thing, and when a shared shaving experience presents opinions at variance with one's own personal experience, people can feel as if though their experience is devalued. But like you said, and have said repeatedly, it is your personal opinion you are sharing, and it is your shave - like other's shaves are their own. I purchased Opuntia based solely on your recommendation, and I'm very happy with my purchase. It is my second SV soap after Cosmo, and I like it a lot better than Cosmo, mainly because I prefer the scent. I shaved with Opuntia yesterday. Today I tried out Stirling Texas on Fire, and I like it very much as well. These soaps are very different in price, but I enjoyed them both. I have other soaps I like better than either one. One of the reasons I love TSC so much is that there genuinely feels like there's room for everyone's opinions and there are no attacks like I see on pretty much every other forum. I guess the gist of my comment is that I get a great deal out of your videos and your opinions, and thought you crystallized what is valuable here in tonight's Barbershop at Home. Thank you.
