"Kaizen VS The Ethos"
Busy day getting ready to open the shop, Night Shave. Video as Journal

Dave - I really enjoyed your video tonight, and I thought your comments were very well considered. I've been a frequenter of shaving forums for a decade now, and it has always fascinated me how such a long-standing conflict can exist between people who are necessarily giving a very personal opinion, and others who interpret it as a declaration of an inarguable truth. No single phrase in wet shaving is repeated more than YMMV, yet the tension persists. My take is that shaving is an intensely intimate and personal thing, and when a shared shaving experience presents opinions at variance with one's own personal experience, people can feel as if though their experience is devalued. But like you said, and have said repeatedly, it is your personal opinion you are sharing, and it is your shave - like other's shaves are their own. I purchased Opuntia based solely on your recommendation, and I'm very happy with my purchase. It is my second SV soap after Cosmo, and I like it a lot better than Cosmo, mainly because I prefer the scent. I shaved with Opuntia yesterday. Today I tried out Stirling Texas on Fire, and I like it very much as well. These soaps are very different in price, but I enjoyed them both. I have other soaps I like better than either one. One of the reasons I love TSC so much is that there genuinely feels like there's room for everyone's opinions and there are no attacks like I see on pretty much every other forum. I guess the gist of my comment is that I get a great deal out of your videos and your opinions, and thought you crystallized what is valuable here in tonight's Barbershop at Home. Thank you.

Thank you so much that means a ton. Very appreciated sir

But Dave, you’re wrong about the Vector. The OREN is clearly more enjoyable to use. :ROFLMAO:

Just a regular SOTD today, not shoot-outs, reviews or the like, and actually made a video just for @NurseDave . Mitchell's Wool Fat has been in the Den since As long as I can remember and one of the few I have replaced a few time. Hard to get aquainted with , but once a friend a fantastic soap, Like Williams and Colgate, it is not fancy, not a 5 on the SOS scale, soapy goodness with slickness and a post shave like none other due to the Lanolin. I am lucky that it does not cause me issues and just love the stuff.

3-passes to day with the Ferrari and she behaved on the corners and hit the finish line with no blood spilt, At 7/8's this is a beast of a cleaver DSBBS and with the talc and the star of the show was the Aquae. Probably the finest healing aftershave serum I have tried. With Hylaronic acid it is in the same realm as Ethos Skinfood, SV, Nivea and the like. I think it gives a better final face feel than all of them, although not fragranced heavily at all,

Stunt Shave Challenge
#newtome #scaredtoshave

@NurseDave @Dave in KY you have been tagged ( watch my VLOG)

Again, Was not going to do a video today, however @Spider tagged me for a shave with the above hashtags. What I chose and the reasons are in the video as well as whom I tagged for the same "Stunt Shave". The clown puke was fantastic, with literally the "Whole Kitchen Sink" inside. I do go over what soaps are in the puke on the video as well. That is my #newtome, and the Stark Viking is the @scaredtoshave. This was another of my custom that was supposed to emulate a Wacker Chevallier, which at the time was hard to find and not very affordable. The difference here is the tip. This razor is the only one in my collection that does indeed intimidate me and the only one that has ever caused me to have to get stitches.

Today's Shave:
3-passes , with no crimson shed, and DSBBS all the way. Almost a Grail Shave. The Nivea repaired some close calls however, and the rest of the characters played well. The Viking was good to me today, so I guess the runes were happy. You can watch the video here:

Shave Soap: Cremo Vanilla Orchid Shave Sticl

Was at Walmart last night and the Cremo shave sticks had arrived. 4 flavor, and the only that had a good scent was this one, Very close to Penhaligon's Endymion. I had seen Josh (@Dagwoodz ) review, but at 7.47 it was worth a shot and if nothing else a good travel or "go bag" shave soap. Easy to apply and made a decent lather, slickness is ok at best, but the post past residual was ok and a bit surprising, I do think I overhydrated the soap a bit as it was thin. Definately a below tier 3 soap, but usable, with a DE, would not use with a straight probably. Good shave with 3-passes and BBS . Was a bit of irritation, but that could be attributed to a new blade or a bit from the orchid, as florals I have some issues with, The Aquae fixed that and some talc and the Endymion and all was well. Had to put a small spot fire out on the ranch today, as embers from a re-started section of the fire blew in as we has 50-60 mile an hour winds, down slope today. Hopefully they will die down after sunset only once small section of the mountain is still on fire,on our side, LOL.

Day-3 Kaizan vs Titans
Ethos Succes

Day 3 finally here after a detour or two with some shaves. Finally here on day 3 with our Asian Muse taking on Ethos Succes. Off the start pretty even with Ethos having a bit more Torque off the line in terms of face feel. However Horsepower, goes to Kaizen in terms of latherability. Even going into turn 1. Out of the Apex Ethos however grabs a gear and takes the lead in terms of in shave and post pass slickness. So into turn 4 looks pretty bad for Kaizen. Some extra power was found and Kaizen closed the gap in SOS as the fragrance is stronger. So, out of turn 4 they are neck in neck. As we get close to the Checkered Flag, they are bumper to bumper. A fouled plug on Kaizen due to post shave slickness being better on the Ethos. Ethos for the win in a photo finish

The shave:
3-passes DSBBS with the Feather doing a great job. The Proraso Rosemary Mint Talc is a perfect match with the Pineapple forward homage to Creed Aventus. The EdP is the closest I have found to Aventus, even closer than fine. So if you cannot get the original, you owe it to yourself to get @Dragonsbeard homage to what can arguably be the most loved fragrance in the last 100 years, and certainly the most widely complimented fragrance in term of homage by every soap and fragrance maker in the world Just fantastic

Day-4 Kaizan vs Titans
PannaCrema Nuavia Verde

Day-4 and Our Kaizen goes up against the leader of the pack in all aspects, An uphill battle for sure. Off the Blocks I do need to give the Kaizen it's due as it does produce a quick wasy lather, faster than PCN, and intial pass slickness and Post pass slickness is about equal. However from this point forward Kaizen would have to look at the rear bumper of this green Italian Beauty the rest of the Shave in this authors opinion. The SOS on the PCNNV is just 4.5-5 across the board, through the passes and post shave, not to mention that literally you could use the excess soap and a final rinse and skip aftershave all together. The Kaizen although very skin nourishing, is just not as good on post shave feel. So here are the standings as of 4-days:
1. PCN
2. ETHOS ( as one day was with Ethos Fresh Lime
3.KAIZEN

The Shave
Today, I tried the ASD2, this time with a fresh namesake blade. Although extremely mild it was able with some cleanup to give me a nice DSBBS- shave. The addtion of the rest of the Italian Cast, inlcuding the talc made for a great quick shave before heading to the Shop for Day-1 as a BarberShop Owner.
