Balancing on the Razor's Edge of (In)Sanity

I wait for sales to stock up on the software. Looking forward to Black Friday.
Yea I do that sometimes as well. I usually have a healthy stock so after I use up a few, I usually a have new coming in.... my b-day is in a few weeks so if I play my cards right, my 2 Stirling splashes and 2 WSP soaps will be gone.... but hopefully some new stuff incoming 👍

if you like Simpson brushes, I got a Black Friday deal last year direct from them... $118, which included shipping internationally, for a chubby 3 best badger. I hope to grab a chubby 2 or something else this year pending their sale items 😍

Thankfully, I've never explored this particular rabbit hole. It can be expensive. Very happy with the brush I'm using, the TSC 2nd Anniversary.

Awesome 👍fortunately, I have just a few $100-125 Simpson’s and a few under $100 brushes (the SV TSC brush is by far my biggest brush splurge clocking in at nearly $200 🤦🏼‍♂️).... I haven’t taken the Paladin, M&F, or “super custom elite” brush dive myself. I’m happy with my simple Brit brushes.... “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” 🤷‍♂️

I don’t go on kicks per se...but I’ll try to limit my purchases to only a few a year, whenever the best timing falls into place. Till those times I’ll usually do my research and eyeball things I might like for a long while.

Research is half the fun, right? 😃

I should clarify and say that my purchase kicks are usually less than $200 over 3 months, average. Not too bad I guess?

my wife would maim me otherwise 😔

That's not horrible at all. Not in the grand scheme. You figure a brush and a few soaps / AS and you're done for the 3-month period.

Myself, I'm the frugal one. My wife would give me much more leeway than I'm willing to spend. I also only like synthetics, which are typically much cheaper. [emoji16]

I agree, half the fun is "window shopping". Lol. Also causes half the trouble. [emoji1787]

Thank you for the confirmation / enabling 🥳

Exactly! I usually grab a frag or 2 every season as well as a few hardware and software.... don’t forget the every 6 month Case pocket knife kick!!!! ⚔

I don’t have other hobbies that require money or friends to go out with so I save a TON right there 👍

Simpson Commodore X3 best badger
WSP Formula T Olympus
Stirling Executive Man

No brainer, good shave. Have a shave or 2 left with Olympus, Executive Man splash may have 3 uses left. Bought last September and finishing one year later - not bad!

here’s our new baby girl that my wife brought home today:

She's absolutely adorable. I see a whole lot of excitement in your near future. Lol.

Welp.... yep.... the Henson triggered the next round of “AD”. Decided my 2 WSP formula T soaps are basically gone as well as their matching Stirling splashes. Time to restock! Decided to give Stirling soaps a 3rd shot. Not bad soaps, just were not top notch for me. BUT... and you will think I’m crazy.... I prefer loading from a larger tub. The 2 times I tried Stirling were from a sample puck early in my shaving days and a refill puck in a Old Spice mug a few years back. Besides WSP, I don’t have any small tins and really don’t like loading from a measly mug opening. Call me a shaving tub snob I guess? 🤷‍♂️
Anyway, Order 2 proper tubs of Stirling, Haverford and Shadow Orchid, with their matching splashes. Also a tube of Vanilla Sandalwood balm for my wife.

There’s larger tubs that what Stirling has? I find them pretty equal as far as largeness of size of tub to most of my other soaps. I think them to be pretty big!

Oh let me clarify - the tubs look to be perfect size. I only ever had the sample puck and a refill puck, both which I had to mash in an old spice mug .... I don’t like lathering from a mug like that 🤷‍♂️
Something about loading from a nice wide mouth tub...Just starts my shaves off right.
