Anything that can go wrong... Will happen while I'm Shaving

I will usually get the red-dotted neck if I try to chase down those pesky hairs the grow flay and EW/WE at the base of my neck; The whiskers above the 1-1.5" growth line are semi-normal squirelly ones, but at least don't grow "flat."

I have to chase those down, otherwise the shave annoys the jeepers out of me. If I don't get DFS --> BBS, it'll bother me.

I always have red bumps to some level, but it seems like it might get angrier (more red and pronounced) after witchhazel. Maybe? I have to give it a day off between shaves to 'calm down' (hence why I shave every other day).

I just snapped a picture... even now, maybe 18 hours gone from my last shave, there's some signs of irritation.

My whiskers grow back fairly quickly (I can easily shave twice daily, and often would if we were going out), so I don't bother chasing BBS. When I do try to get DFS on my lower neck is when I get the dot-attack. :cautious:

I emailed Henson’s today .... we may see additional razor materials first of the year [emoji2958] !!!
I just heard back from Henson this morning re: the Tungsten ring. While it won't be present on the titanium, the ring is not necessary for loosening the cap during a shave. According to the message I received:

"The tension is generated by the blade being clamped into the radius of the top cap. This will still be the same on the ti version."

Thus, you should still be able to loosen it a quarter turn to widen the gap, still maintaining the ridgid clamp on the blade, allowing a more efficient cleanup pass.

I'm very excited to try this razor. [emoji106]

PRE: None
SOAP: LNHC Triple Cocktail: Somali Rose
RZR: Henson AL13
BLD: Personna Comfort (#5)
POST: Osage Rub
POST: Stirling Glacial Balm

A good shave, but it lacked the comfort...

I decided to skip the Preshave, don't know why. Lathered the soap and made sure to let it hang out for a while. Felt a tingling I usually don't... Hope this isn't due to Lisa's newest formula. Decided to push on. Usually my blade is binned after 4 shaves, but I let this one hang in there anyway (again, why did I do that?!). The result was a tuggy, not all that comfortable or efficient shave. I did manage to get it to DFS, but not without an uncomfortable fight. Lesson learned... Bin the blade at 4, and don't skip the Preshave. [emoji2369]

Also decided, for all it's qualities, the splash won't beat a balm in the cool dry weather. Obvious, of course.

BLD: Gillette Nacet (#1)
POST: Osage Rub

What a great shave. I mean, just awesome! On a whim, I popped a Nacet into the razor and gave it a whirl. After a thorough Preshave wash, I really let the soap sit and soak in for a while, after loading a LOT of soap (from the tube). The end result was a shave that barely felt like a blade was involved with a near BBS finish.

Bring on the weekend. [emoji41]

Are you sure that wasn’t a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐️ Shave?! Sounds like one to me! I did a Henson, nacet, proraso red shave recently and it was top notch! Nice!!!

I always keep 5 stars high up, in case I ever 1-up my shaves. Still, I agree it was downright amazing. Hope to repeat it (with a different soap) today.

So, @BadgerFiend , I have been snooping around for info on the Henson Ti. Not sure what I've shared so far, but here is what I have learned from other posts....

The Titanium is 6AL-4V, or Grade 5 titanium. This is the same used by Wolfman and Timeless.

Also, a member in another neighborhood posted this...

"I emailed Henson concerning the 3 finishes on the Ti22, this is what I received (paraphrasing):

Titanium is raw, Solar Gold and Gunmetal Grey finishes are PVD."

I asked what that was and was given a wikipedia link. The takeaway seems to be these few lines:

"PVD coatings are sometimes harder and more corrosion resistant than coatings applied by the electroplating process. Most coatings have high temperature and good impact strength, excellent abrasion resistance and are so durable that protective topcoats are almost never necessary"

Color me impressed. I did order the base Titanium. Still, had I gone for a coloring, I would feel pretty secure right now. They seem to have done their homework. 😎

Thanks for the info! Good to know!

I ordered the base titanium as well. I usually prefer the basic colors myself. The exception was the Aluminum Henson.... the military green looked too cool... and I wanted medium aggressive, which wasn’t available in the basic color 🤣

Near BBS, smooth and happy... Not much more to say. [emoji41]

Another great shave. An easy DFS+, smooth and comfortable. I decided to go with the Christmas Eve this evening. A little early? Yes. But if my daughter can listen to Christmas carols already, I can use the soap. Ooh how I love this scent!

Have a great evening Cadre!

My daughter sent me this picture a little bit ago with the caption," we need an exorcist." [emoji1787]

I just know it's going to be waiting for me at home.
