Good evening, Cadre. Let me apologize for not posting yesterday’s shave. I know my many fans and admirers anxiously await my posts to see my setup each day, so please allow me to explain. Yesterday’s shave went badly right from the start. Instead of my usual left handed backhand stroke to the right side of my face (the correct method as you are aware), for some inexplicable reason I began shaving with a forehand left handed stroke to my left cheek! 😱 I quickly realized my mistake but had no choice but to finish my left side face and neck. I then went to my right face and neck, did those with the proper backhand technique and finished with my chin and mustache. This WTG disaster left me discombobulated and shaking, as might be expected. Having no available benzos to calm my nerves, I was forced to continue with ATG and cleanup with sheer strength of will. 😬 To make matters worse, I had to run out the door to meet some friends so I couldn’t post then. Decaf coffee, fellowship, and two slices of homemade gingerbread eventually settled my ragged nerves. Upon returning home, I was too exhausted from the aforementioned ordeal that I simply retired for the night without posting.

Today I shaved at 9:30pm because my wife and I need to be at the hospital tomorrow for her pain clinic procedure at 7am. They use conscious sedation (“twilight sleep”) so I will need to drive her home. Under sedation the doc will administer injections of an NSAID directly into her nerves immediately off of her spinal cord. She’s had several of these procedures before, and they do help relieve her pain somewhat. As a young teenager, she had rods and screws placed in her spinal column to mostly correct the scoliosis which she had at birth. Now her spine in those corrected areas is deteriorating, causing tremendous pain in her lower back, hips, and legs. It’s tough to see her this way, because she is a hard-charging woman under normal circumstances.

To make things interesting tomorrow, we may get ~5 inches of snow from 3-8am. We’re taking her Wrangler, so no worries, though we’ll have to leave earlier than normal because of it.

The Steelers finished the season with four consecutive losses, so I expect they’ll have a brief playoff “run”, perhaps against Buffalo (?). We shall see. Go Lions! Their most recent NFL championship was a mere 67 years ago. How do I know? It was in 1957, the year I was born. They’re due.

Be well. 😊

I misspoke. The injections go into the tissue immediately surrounding the nerves, not the nerve itself. It went well this morning- we came home and we each slept a couple of hours. The snow came, but not 5” - more like 3-4” I would estimate, though it was heavy going and returning. Sheri’s Jeep handled it just fine, traffic was light at that hour, and we were going opposite to the early morning traffic flow.

Sending dood vibes your way Bruce!
Thanks for the dude vibes, Chris!

Aahh, good afternoon, Cadre! I hope the mid-week finds you well. Winter has settled in, and I find myself pounding the decaf coffee as I acclimate to it. Oh well, this too shall pass. I find myself still humming this catchy tune, posted earlier for @NurseDave:

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood with the temperature of 22F/6C. Excellent shave early this afternoon for getting together with friends tonight. Had a productive video meeting with my audiologist a short while ago. All is well. Enjoy your day, my friends. 😊

It’s about 9:45pm here, it’s snowing, and it’s 28F/-2C. Steelers are down 21-0 at halftime. I’m ready for the big comeback! 🤞🏻

ya, I called it Typical of Tomlinson and Playoffs GRRRRRR

Let's make that a -6C and we're good.... unless metric math is different. 😜

BTW -4F/-22C with the wind chill here the past few days, but we've warmed up to almost 22F/-6C today. Woohoo! ☀️⛱️
You can also measure Canadian temperatures in litres, right? I think I was taught that in grade school in Ohio, which is pretty close to Canada. 🤠

A pleasant post lunch shave today. Shame on those who didn’t join last night’s Zoom call. It was a lively discussion of many topics, including a fascinating, entertaining, informative, and dare I say educational conversation concerning the Missouri geography and weather. Though this may sound uninteresting, taint so, I assure you. For shame, for shame, everybody knows your name! Don’t miss out on the next Zoom, as what we cover will probably be on the final exam, the grade of which will be noted in your Permanent Record. Do please heed this warning. 🧐

Shaved earlier but ran out the door so my wife could get a new computer. The 2012 iMac kicked the bucket last week, and she’s replacing it with a nice MacBook. She is happy with the purchase, so I am too. More snow today, an inch or two, I think. Be well, Cadre. 🙂
