Good evening, Cadre. Let me apologize for not posting yesterday’s shave. I know my many fans and admirers anxiously await my posts to see my setup each day, so please allow me to explain. Yesterday’s shave went badly right from the start. Instead of my usual left handed backhand stroke to the right side of my face (the correct method as you are aware), for some inexplicable reason I began shaving with a forehand left handed stroke to my left cheek! I quickly realized my mistake but had no choice but to finish my left side face and neck. I then went to my right face and neck, did those with the proper backhand technique and finished with my chin and mustache. This WTG disaster left me discombobulated and shaking, as might be expected. Having no available benzos to calm my nerves, I was forced to continue with ATG and cleanup with sheer strength of will. To make matters worse, I had to run out the door to meet some friends so I couldn’t post then. Decaf coffee, fellowship, and two slices of homemade gingerbread eventually settled my ragged nerves. Upon returning home, I was too exhausted from the aforementioned ordeal that I simply retired for the night without posting.
Today I shaved at 9:30pm because my wife and I need to be at the hospital tomorrow for her pain clinic procedure at 7am. They use conscious sedation (“twilight sleep”) so I will need to drive her home. Under sedation the doc will administer injections of an NSAID directly into her nerves immediately off of her spinal cord. She’s had several of these procedures before, and they do help relieve her pain somewhat. As a young teenager, she had rods and screws placed in her spinal column to mostly correct the scoliosis which she had at birth. Now her spine in those corrected areas is deteriorating, causing tremendous pain in her lower back, hips, and legs. It’s tough to see her this way, because she is a hard-charging woman under normal circumstances.
To make things interesting tomorrow, we may get ~5 inches of snow from 3-8am. We’re taking her Wrangler, so no worries, though we’ll have to leave earlier than normal because of it.
The Steelers finished the season with four consecutive losses, so I expect they’ll have a brief playoff “run”, perhaps against Buffalo (?). We shall see. Go Lions! Their most recent NFL championship was a mere 67 years ago. How do I know? It was in 1957, the year I was born. They’re due.
Be well.
