Your Latest Fragrance Purchase

Hey Cadre. Well I recently returned home after almost 4 weeks in hospital and needless to say it's great to be home. So to help pass the time in hosp. I made the long overdue executive decision to up my fragrance game. I really did give the bank account a hammering with the online shopping that followed. I bought both new and used frags and lotsa decants as well.😃

May you smell divine and recover quickly!

1000001411.jpgNot my most recent "purchase" but my most recent to arrive: Pino Silvestre

This stuff smells crazy. It was dirt cheap, it looked cute, and I had thought the reviews were exaggerating. They were not. It's very linear after the crazy vinegar-y opening, and it literally is just pine on pine. It's cheap and not very great. If you like fresh greens but sort of hate yourself it's great. Think Polo Green but without anything in it.

Give it a try if you can get it cheap, I've heard the aftershave is a step up too.

😆😆
OK......now l gotta try this suff
Again, get the aftershave if you can. I've heard better reviews as the alcohol and oil/moisturizer blend is much more approachable than the standalone cologne spray that's just oil and alcohol. You can read the notes online but if you want a more in depth review, do ask I can be more specific, I'm just being a hater lol.

1000001426.jpgToday's Pick up is Agua Brava, or sometimes Aqua Brava, from Antonio Puig.

Found it at my local CVS and bought it dirt cheap (thanks, membership!). Normally I have a deep loathing of Puig fragrances, I cannot stand original Quorum and Aramis, but this one, the often forgotten one, stands out. I was also pleasantly surprised it had the atomizer, I'm familiar with this one being a splash.

This is a fragrance that does not screw around. The bottle is an eye catching olive green with a classy wooden cap, which indicates an idea of how it smells. The opening comes out and slaps you with a sharp pine resin, absolutely blended with spices, but not your normal idea of spice and such. The spice I mean smells almost like your blend of italian seasoning with the huge basil bomb that is very upfront. It's an eau de cologne so it's got some bite. It cools off the seasoning into a rather refreshing aromatic and actually woody, fresh cut pine with laid back florals, and with the right touch of powdery musk and maybe a hint of leather. Think Mediterranean.

This is a man's cologne, truly. If there's no aftershave version of this, I'd say it's a crime, then say to get the splash bottle and dump it onto whatever moisturizer you prefer, maybe witch hazel for the added aroma sophistication, and just dive right in. Don't be scared to bathe in this one. It's cheap, refreshing, and gone in 30 mins~ or so. I recommend wearing it on a cool, dark, and moody day after a quick "just good enough" kinda shave, to tell everyone you give a damn but to buzz off, you got things to do.

Just picked up these from Alt and Scentbird. Trying to find my go to scent, something I can use every day.

If you like good dupes check out Barrett Fragrances. I'm not at all affiliated but I've gotten some good stuff from them. Great dupes with slight alterations and a very solid, high quality oil concentration. Don't put on too much though, you could form an oil slick and even after a wash or two you'll still smell it lingering.

Uhh… I’m not really a frag guy. What’s the difference?
I'll keep it really, really simple.

Think of your grandpa/dad with signature scents. It's the scent you use all day, every day, no matter where you are. You have the cologne, the aftershave, the body wash, etc. All toiletries. When you are around people, you will be associated with that smell everywhere you go. You'll have people smell something like... Jovan Musk, and they'll say "It smells like KJ in here" or it will remind them of you.

Daily driver is also called a dumb reach for fragrance enthusiasts. This would involve you already having a collection or "seasonal wardobe" of fragrances to swap out or wear on different occasions, but the daily driver is the one you can just put on with no real planning or thought. It's the smell you can wear to work, going to the gym, doing errands, something you can wear daily just to wear when you're not using the "others". For me that would be Claiborne Sport. I wear it when I don't feel like wearing anything and don't want to think about it. Hot outside? CS. Cold outside? CS. Work? Gym? Shopping? Eh, throw on CS and go.

@Spider

Furthermore, not every scent you will use every day. Like you won't use Oud or Amber on a hot summer day. Those are your cold weather/ night time/ date scents. Or maybe more formal statement pieces.

You won't wear a fruity smell at an office or to church...

So that's the driver. Your dumb reach "anywhere" fragrance

For me, the kinda sound the same. Both of what you describe is what I’m looking for. I’m not looking for shelves of frags, just a few I like that I can use whenever. I’m trying a few samples and dupes to see if there is anything I’d consider buying a full bottle of for daily use.

You may want to look at the scented soaps you enjoy using most and try to find a scent that matches what you like tbe most as fsr as scents go. Also you can look up the actual scent notes here which may help you find what your lookong for

An alternative would be to try and pair your favorite aftershaves and soaps with the cologne version of each, or just find similar fragrances to find your general favorite category of fragrances.

In fact, could you name or list your top 5-10 aftershaves/soaps?
