Bourbon Country Shave Journal - Dave in KY

Congrats on the new pooch. Dogs are such a pleasure.

I was wondering which Yaqi Moka Express that brush is. Your last picture shows which one and it is the same Yaqi I have with the synthetic bristles. There is a 26 with badger that they have made as well. I will be taking mine on our annual trip to Central America later this month along with my trusty Rockwell 6S that I travel with--not as fancy as yours but it does the job.

Your comments in the prior shave video (shave No. 7) re not chasing every new thing struck me as very apropos. When I got back to Florida in November, I went a little nuts buying all the newest soaps and a few aftershaves. So now I have most of the newest, latest, most greatest soaps that I wanted (except for a example of Declaration Grooming Milksteak) and I am having a hard time fitting this newest batch of stuff in my RV. Ironically, yesterday I revisited a soap I have had for nearly a year and absolutely loved it--Grooming Dept Barbershop. Yes, the new stuff is great but so is the older stuff. So maybe its time for me to slow it way down and use what I have. Yeah, I think so.
Glenn, so good to see you buddy and have a safe/fun time in Central America. I need the restraint for myself where I am in my journey but understand everyone is at a different stage or place in theirs. How will I manage if I can't drool over your newest purchased Soap/ Aftershave posts here? The Moka is the synthetic one.

I read somewhere that the Moka Express handle is based on the ubiquitous and inexpensive stovetop espresso maker. Visually, it makes a whole lot of sense.

Yep the Moka stovetop pot. Have a few of them. None are actually this one by Bialetti

2020 Shave # 9 ( 429 Consecutive Shaves )
Razor: Bigelow & Parkin Travel Razor
Blade: GSB (1)
Brush: Sorrentino Sea Foam
Soap: CBL Tonsorial Fresh Lime 3017 (9)
Balm: LNHC Post Shave Elixir Unscented
Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: Skin Bracer

Pulled out the B&P travel razor and had a nice smooth shave. The soap is dropping in weight so either it was water hydrating it or the new pup is keeping @Spider from sneaking in to top off the tub. Before shave was 96 g and after it was 94 g.

Heading to Knoxville for work today and the fence guys are coming while I'm gone to plant the posts for the dog run. That's all I got........................well except for the coffee and carrot cake with cream cheese icing. Emergency rooms are open so.........................Have a stupid fun day Cadre !!!!!

Nice shaves buddy! There's some great frag mini reviews there! Hope you found the right one! How is that Techmatic, my dad used it, and still has it. I was thinking to buy nos cartrige but don't know is it worth money, and time...
P.S. Loving that dog:love:

Thanks Gagi ! The Techmatic gets a lot of love by several on here for an although boring, at least easy and great smooth shave. My experience with just 1 shave wasn't as great. Not aggressive but wasn't efficient for me. Again just a single shave so maybe I need to dial it in. It is a piece of history and conversation piece. (y)
