Words of wisd..... Yeah right.... We all know better than that!

Can't wait to see how you fix this.
Actually this one wont be bad. Since I cant cut metric threads on the lathe, that means we are just ordering the brass part. IF, they can find one. Last I heard about it, they were actually having problems coming up with one in Italy where the machine was manufactured. Really outdated machine.
The washer is an easy machining job if we cant find one that thickness locally. Few minutes on the lathe and done.

Trickiest part will be making sure I get that side back exactly where it was when I took it out. If not the table will twist and bind because there is one of those on the other side that runs with it to keep the table level.

There shouldn't be too much different from the rest of the tonsorial line that would make v for vetiver that much different. I believe science is in order!

Once again...Shawn is showing off his manliness! And to rub it in our faces...he shows us his nub of a finger to really show off how much of a man he is. I want a nub? 🤪

I think I would disappear for a long while if I had access to all those metal lathes and tools at your work. I'd be finding reasons to make new parts for everything! Nub up Shawn!

I got my experiment sample package from @CBLindsay today. Not sure if he wants reviews in the thread or where, but I'll post here and copy if need be.

I used the same Brush Guy brush from the last photo. It is a known brush and I can dial things in with it fairly easy. I also used my injector as it gives smooth brainless shaves.

I started with sample #1 placed in a bowl for loading and then face lathered. It loaded very quickly, but didn't seem to load very heavy/thick as the premium soap I had just used the day before. I dipped the brush tips and worked up a nice glossy slick lather with very little effort.
I did get a surprising amount of blade feel with this soap. Both passes. Slickness was definitely there, but not as much "cushion" as I'm used too. I got a little bit of irritation too, but I'm thinking it's because the one thing I forgot to do was to change the blade. Not sure how long it's been in there or how many shaves were on it.

Post shave, I don't actually rinse, I just wipe the little bits of extra soap off and call it good. I got just the slightest bit of tackiness doing this. I didn't put my "water-gel" moisturizer on right away to see how things turned out. The tackiness only lasted a minute or two, then faded away. I didn't really get much post shave feel from this at all after that. Skin felt ok, but just felt like the rest of my face that hadn't had soap on it.
I finally applied the moisturizer, and it took a minute for it to soak in fully where it never does any other time. Once that was soaked in, I applied aftershave and got a little bit of sting confirming the irritation was from the blade and not something in the soap.

So FIRST impression, is that it performs decent enough, but not as much cushion as I am used to from what I consider top tier now. Post shave felt (to me) like it was ever so slightly heavy on glycerine. The tackiness and "coated" feeling I had usually happens with glycerine on my skin.
Since the slices are thin I'm probably going to use each one to completion before moving to the next to make sure I really have it dialed in and figured out. I may change the brush to a denser/stiffer one to load a bit heavier, but then I'll keep it and the razor the same for fair comparison. (And I already changed the blade so I don't forget...)

Good analysis Shawn! I'm interested to see what the others come up with and then see what the soaps are or what the ingredients are from the soaps!

Great review Shawn. I always like Brush Guy's handles. His was the first "how to turn a shave brush video" that I ever watched, and it heavily influenced me to start playing around on the lathe.

I did some more shaves with the first sample that @CBLindsay sent with pretty much the same results. Slight tackiness and sort of coated feeling. No further irritation, so I really do think that blade was done.

I moved on to the second sample. This one lathered a bit better. Loaded quicker and worked into a slick lather faster. It was slick, but left a massive amount of blade feel. I had a lot of weepers and that is something I have never had from the injector or a CBL product. Chris said these were all tonsorial based, and this lathered and was slick like the tonsorial I have, but lacked the protection I normally get.
I do think my skin is having one of it's extra dry spells though. I have had cracking that has split open on my hands again the last few days, so that may be playing a part in things.

Post shave did seem a bit better than the first sample though. No tackiness that I had with the first one and the water/gel stuff soaked right in like it normally does. I shave at night usually right before bed, so a real test is how my face still feels in the morning. Today my face felt rough. Not dry or stubble, just a bit rough. First thing at work it was about 18 degrees and I was out in the wind. I really felt it. I've had a sort of sunburned feeling all day. I still feel hydrated enough, just irritated. However, much of that may be from the excessive exfoliation I got from this shave.
I'm probably going to take a day or two off to grow some skin back, then give it another go and see what happens.

So since @dangerousdon called me out in @Smattayu journal, here is one for him. What's this Don??? :ROFLMAO:
