What Fragrance Did You Use Today?

Etat Libre d’Orange - Eloge du Traitre
Still my number one aromatic herbal, and one of the only ones I have an unopened back up of.
Yes it’s basically a refined version of Yatagan, but I always feel that description doesn’t do it justice. It just has so much more depth than Yatagan, not bashing Caron’s classic either, it’s fabulous, but this isn’t a mere copy, though the influence is unmistakeable. I get a lot verticality here, with a number of sheer layers that keep it from being overwhelming.
It always makes me sad that this one got cut from the line, some of these early ELdOs are their best efforts IMHO, even if they are also clearly ‘inspired by’ they are all elevated takes.

Mark, I've got to tell you: I'd buy that fragrance for the bottle alone. What gorgeous packaging and graphics. Sends me back to Venice. Tell me a little about it?
Florida Water is an interesting concoction.. I use it as an aftershave as well as a cologne, but its uses are many, especially in Latin cultures (I'm also part Puerto Rican and can trace my roots back to the native Taino tribes that flourished there) where it's used for a multitude of practical and spiritual practices.

It has a floral citrus / spicy scent with notes of lemon, bergamot, neroli, orange blossom and clove. Not very long-lasting nor having much in the way of sillage and projection, it tends to wear close to the skin. However, having applied it over six hours ago, I can still smell it. But I normally spray it directly on my shirt which helps it last longer. Great anytime of year, but really shines in the hotter months.

It's cultural uses include cleansing rituals, purification, ritual offerings, etc. It's rumored that if you spray it onto your pillow, it causes vivid and intense dreams.

Hope this helps.
