The funny thing about the Shemagh. I don't know about other places in the Middle East or in Central Asia...but in Afghanistan these are actually associated with different tribes/clans/provinces/etc. When I first got in country one of my team members wore one that was a different color and pattern than the rest of us. We soon found out that the color he was wearing was associated with a rival warlord to the south of us and the local guards/military where we were at didn't appreciate him wearing the wrong colors so to speak. He quickly changed Shemaghs.Shemagh (sand colored) is in and Thayers Medicated on deck for the morning shave!
