Welcome Ethos Grooming

Well that's all I have that I can share as of today

That's All? That's a lot! I am really excited for you Frank! And I am really excited to see and try your line! I know you are at a lot of places at the moment...but I like to think of you as one of ours!

Thanks Guys for the input and support! It is a big part of what motivates me and I'll update you all as things unfold and products are close to release.

Also I'd like to say I feel very much at home here on THC and that's because all of you and the great guys that own this site!

Well on my lunch so back to the lab!

I do check in as much as I can. So L8ER! :)(y)

Thanks for all the great info Frank! I'm always happy to test and report back if you're ever looking for volunteers.

Bob
I am interested in volunteering as well.
I just joined the pass around but I’m always game to be a guinea pig 😂....🐁 lab rat was the closet emoji I could find

Thanks guys I will definitely need some testers and I’m already thinking of putting together a form to fill out so I can get info on what type of skin and hair type a person has so that I can pick the right person to try a particular product that may benefit that person. I mean I wouldn’t want to be sending someone a heavy duty skin moisturizer with lots of butters and oils if that person has naturally very oily skin. Yep as I’m writing this I’m talking myself into creating a “ Testers Form” so that’s another thing to put together. 🤪😂

You definitely have a lot going on. Not only are you doing all the branding and start-up work, you are planning and developing product for several months out while making current products...again.

I enjoyed talking with you on the phone the other day, and I definitely agree with your views on how collaboration amongst artisans/vendors would benefit the wet shaving community in more ways than simply making a unique products available. i look forward to the new collaboration you have in the works ...and the ones yet to be fleshed out.

I recall Soap Commander once had an exclusive ‘club’ people would subscribe to once a year, the seasonal scent crew. @Cvargo was a member, he can confirm the details. I believe the members paid a flat fee that covered the basic cost of shipping and production but I don’t know what that fee was. The crew got a one ounce sample every few weeks or once a month (or on some sort of schedule) that was in a scent being tested for potential addition to the main lineup. Each member of the crew provided feedback on the scent and after testing all the options (I think they tested 5 in all each ‘season’) they cadt a vote for their favorite. Based on the feedback soap commander would pick a single scent to add to the line up. When you have product development costs as high as what you might run into, a similar model might be useful. If not an exchange of actual $, you might choose testers that have a strong marketing/social media potential as well as the ability to appreciate the different characteristics and provide feedback. ...that leaves ME out. Depending on what you are testing, someone like @Spider is pretty good at noticing things and putting them into words. @NurseDave is pretty good too, particularly with scent and feel. Maybe (with all you extra time) you can poke around the member videos in media section to get a feel for who describes characteristics and scents in a way that is constructive for you.

Hi Chris

First off I also enjoyed our talk on the phone a lot. An wow you just gave me a lot of very good info and ideas to absorb. Your right I’m doing this alone and along with the other two projects I have and trying to finish setting up, starting and keeping up with the Shave Off thread it’s basically a 7 days a week job and if I didn’t enjoy this hobby as much as I do Ii would probably not take on all this on at one time.

Also I have to do some research and also connect with some of the people you mentioned in your post. Oh and when you get a chance pm your address as I should have something for you to try by early next week.

I’d also like to add the support I’ve gotten on this site in the short time I’ve been a member is off the charts and very much appreciated to say the least!

Thank you for this post as it is very helpful!!

Kind regards 😊👍🏼

Frank

5. Two very high grade of pure Lavender oils I ordered from France will be in the next Shave Soap and Skin Food splash and it will probably be released about 2 weeks after the Succes is released. Some may ask why two. Well I've found that one lavender oil seems to work best in a soap base and the other in the Skin Food splash. The end result is if you love Lavender in its pure form you should enjoy it. When I do a night shave I usually use Lavender as it's relaxing and I can wear it to bed which is something I don't enjoy using cologne like scents.
I love Lavender...... from Nature. The scent of lavender flowers is amazing. However, I have never liked lavender in any shave product. I've always found it harsh and overpowering, and not reminiscent of what I like about lavender at all. I'm curious if your lavender might be different.

I also love Lavender and I’m pretty fussy about mine and that’s why I got mine directly from two different Lavender growers in the Provence valley in France. I have a friend who makes amazing skin care products for her boutique only and her products are so natural you have to keep them in the fridge!

She’ is the one who hooked me up with the growers in France so I’d say it’s about as fresh as you can get . One is sweeter than the other and it was recommended to use in a Aftershave/cologne and the other in a soap environment. So in this case I’m going along with the recommendations I got and will use them as they are. I plan to do some blends down the road as Lavender can mix with so many other EO’s and aromatic absolutes and Hydrosol’s . I will send you a sample if you like once I have made the soap and skin food splash to see if you like it.

Thanks again for your input.

Personally, the only lavender soap I've ever cared for was Yardley's. I've tried, it doesn't work well for shaving. [emoji3525]

I spent quite a bit of time talking with Bouki and Lipripper (their resident Lavender 'expert') from another neighborhood... we couldn't find anything close.

If your soap comes out smelling like Yardley's, I'll have to buy it by the caseload. Lol. [emoji16]

Yardley English Lavender is what led me into the wet shaving rabbit hole. My father used to use it and I grew up loving the scent. I was looking around about 5 years ago for products that smelled like it and stumbled into B&B....

I've tried several lavenders and did a lavender passaround a few years ago at the other place, but have not found anything close to Yardley.

Nice label Frank. Any hints for us on the scent profile(s) ?

Thanks guys for the input. My question is do either of you have a tiny sample of Yardley Lavender? What I’m wondering is it a straight Lavender EO or a Synthetic or a combo of both.

I can try to duplicate it for you but I need a sample to work off. Just so you know some scents that let’s say showcase a certain scent like Lavender or Sandalwood for example have other notes thrown in even though they call it lavender or Sandalwood. Another great example was the original AOS Sandalwood Cologne . It said Sandalwood on it and yet when you look at the original scent profile theirs like like 3 other notes they put in to get the final scent.

Let me know if you want me to try.

👍🏼
