Weck passaround

Well, I bled less than Don. LOL. I used the guard, which is a nice feature for a novice such as myself. One thing that I noticed that is probably a reflex is that I applied way too much pressure, which caused quite a bit of irritation and weepers. I've had a little experience with SR shaving so it wasn't super alien to me, but I need to work on my ambidexterity so I can shave more comfortably with my left hand.

Thanks for letting us all use it, John!

I guess i got lucky when john sent it to me before he started the pass around i dont remember there being a blood bath with it. I remember it being an excellent shaver. I used the guard and also tried it without. I guess i was lucky considering i had not used a straight or shavette style before.

We might be exaggerating a little bit. Haha. I can't speak for Kyle or Don, but my experience so far had been pretty good so far. The guard is helpful. The thing that I had going against me is that the straight that I used before was incredibly dull and I had to apply pressure to get anything done, which was a hint to get it honed. So I got that bad habit in my head leading to using way too much pressure with the Weck. I'm also shaving a little faster than I probably should be.

yeah Pressure is not your friend with a straight. I very much enjoyed the Weck with and without the guard but i think i would be more likely to use it with the guard. Otherwise i would just use one of my normal straights.

yeah when i was using it i preferred to leave the guard on and i was able to get a very good shave with it even in one pass and it was an incredible time saver !! just remember light to no pressure let the guard help with angle and dont try overly long strokes with it and it could become one of your favorite razors !!!!!!!!!

I've honestly always got better shaves with the guard off. The guard just got in the way, and I hated flipping it, as I tended to need to flip it several times for one pass. The guard was nice in showing me the angle to use, after that, it just seemed pretty intuitive.

yeah i guess YMMV i did better with guard but i was also able to do it backwards and i got where i didn't have to flip the guard but when i did have to flip it i guess it just didn't bother me that much (it was just the nature of the beast) so to say. Good luck to all with the weck it really is a good little shaver. but again YMMV

I did try to use it without the guard for a couple of strokes and it went alright, I just felt that I was better off with the guard on until I get it down with it on.

Alright stop blowing up my phone, I'm awake.

Huge leap forward. I basically just let the weight of the Weck do the cutting and I'm thrilled to report that all of my blood stayed in my body. Just one pass today, but it was still very nice. I'll do a full shave tomorrow to really test myself.

Two steps forward, one step back. There was blood today, but only just a little from a few weepers. Some of it was too much pressure atg and the rest was awkwardness from using my left hand. Still a great shave. Wtg and both xtg were perfect.

I'm a quick learner.

If anyone else wants to jump in now would be the time before Ben sends it back.
