Oliva Serie V Liga Especial 135th Anniversary Edicion Real

The Review
  • Presentation
    • Wrapper 5/5 - nicely contruction, oily, dark
    • Band 4/4 - Very nice Typical Oliva
    • Firmness 3/3
    • Oils 3/3 - Super oily
  • Smoking Character
    • Light 5/5 - Coffee and Dark Bitterweet Chocolate on 1st light and draw
    • Burn 7/10 Due to Club shape ( which may have been part of the reason ) a few moments of canoeing throughout the Smoke and 2 re-light but not that much of an issue
    • Draw 8/8 perfect Draw, almost too easy
  • Flavor
    • Consistency 9/9 - Great journey of flavors throughout, no boring "same same" here
    • Flavor Quality 9/9 - Characterized as mild to medium, I find it bold and and super rich. Again coffee and chocolate with some earthy spice and caramel
    • Smoothness 8/8 - nice oily thickness on the palate with nice retrohale that really brings on the spice / medium smoke
  • Overall Impression
    • Quality of Blend 12/12 - Ecuador Habano Sun Grown / Nicaraguan Binder / Nicaraguan Filler
    • Flavor Progression 8/8 Excellent
    • Finish 6/6 Wonderful and consistent all the way to the very end
    • Speed of Burn 4/5 - 2 re-lights and a few canoe instances on this stick - Total smoke time 2hrs 15 mins
    • Price: 5/5 $9.00 a stick

  • TOTAL RATING 96/100

BARBERDAVE'S CIGAR REVIEW

Cigar Name: PLACENCIA ALMA FUERTE Robustus
Size:
5.25x52
Smoke Time: 1.6 hours

Presentation

Wrapper 5/5 - Well Constructed perfect leaf Darlk, oily appearance
Band 3/4 - plain, but well appointed with both Foot and End caps
Firmness 3/3 - Even pressure and give throughout the Finger Fork not hard spots or knots
Oils 3/3 - Super oily almost shiny out of the Humidor

Smoking Character

Light 5/5 - Perfect Char on toe Easy to light with no runners
Burn 9/10 -Steady even burn, very light but consistent Ash
Draw 8/8 - Perfect draw, one of the best

Flavor

Consistency 8/9 - Minor changes from 1st to 3rd stage. listed as a medium cigar, I found it more on the strong side
Flavor Quality 9/9 -Strong and bold, coffee, pepper, wood but nice on retrohale with some mixed notes of plum
Smoothness 8/8 - Although a bold cigar it remains very smooth throughout with no spikes or burn on retrohale

Overall Impression

Quality of Blend 11/12 - All Nicarauguan Wrapper / Filler / Binder
Flavor Progression 7/8 -Not much transition through the "3rds" fairly even and flavorfull throughout. Linear but not boring
Finish 6/6 -perfect another cigar taken all the way down to almost nothing, has to use a cigar tool fork to get every last bit
Speed of Burn 5/5 - Can be a quick smoke of you are a puffer ( 45-60 mins ) or longer to enjoy
Price: 5/5 $9.00 a stick -Worth Every bit.

MY RATING: 94/100 - One of the best cigars I have smoked, and would stand up and in some ways beat many Padron Cigars

BarberDave's Cigar Review
Cigar Name: Southern Draw Sunday Jacob's Ladder Salomon Figurado ( part of a sampler pack not avail outside this yet)
Size: 7.14 x 57
Smoke Time: 1 hr 30

Presentation
Wrapper -5/5 Deepdark color Finely wrapped not too oily
Band - 3/4 - Simple black/red two-banded with "Southern Draw Sunday on wrap #1 and "Faith, Family, Fellowship" on Wrap 2
Firmness -3/3 - Nice and firm but not hard, consistent along entire Cigar from Foot to Toe
Oils -1/3 - not heavy in oiliness but not too dry either matte in color

Smoking Character
Light -5/5 - As a Figurado no initial toasting of the toe, just a straight light and very easy and even with Torch
Burn 10/10 - Consistent Burn Solid Ash, even
Draw -6/8 - A tighter draw than most, but not bad. This was with an angled V-Cut

Flavor
Consistency -9/9 - Dark Black Coffee / Espresso. Bittersweet Dark Chocolate 1st 3rd / More of the same 2nd with a bit of wood notes. Final 3rd Ramps up
Flavor Quality -8/9 - Very good, but Very Strong almost too much. If you like a strong Maduro you will like this, but see note below
Smoothness -8/8 - Very strong but smoooooth

Overall Impression

Quality of Blend -12/12 -All Nicaraguan. Made by AJ Fernandez
Flavor Progression -6/8 - A bit linear but ramps up to end
Finish -6/6 - A beast of Coffee, Chocolate, Wood and peppery at end
Speed of Burn -5/5 - Perfect and allows a break without re-light
Price-4/5- Is part of a 5-stick sample pack at $50.00 so cannot be purchased as a single, but about $10.00 for the Cigar

NOTE** Do not have this cigar on an empty stomach or have a sweet drink or soda with it. Can be a stomach churner very strong

MY RATING: 91/100

Cigar # 3 and a Review

09.24.2023.2.jpg

BarberDave's Cigar Review
Cigar Name: Espinosa Wasabi Robusto
Size: 5x52
Smoke Time: 1hr 45

Presentation
Wrapper- 5/5 - Very even wrap smooth and matte Candella
Band -3/4 - Nice but very plain
Firmness -3/3 - even throughout no hard spots
Oils -2/3 - no oil in appearance dry looking, per typical Cancellas

Smoking Character
Light -5/5 - perfect and even light from Toasting foot to initial draw
Burn -8/10 - 1st third had a bit of canoeing, but corrected itself (this was probably due to smoking a bit fast)
Draw -7/8 - a but tight at beginning but opened up nicely in 2nd third

Flavor
Consistency -9/9 - Lemon grass hay and a woody note with some intersting spice of actual wasabi on the tongue and palate with a sweet/salt undertone and spices ramped up, as did the soy in 2nd and 3rd /3rd
Flavor Quality -9/9 - Fantastic and bold with a real spice on retrohale
Smoothness -8/8 - great thick smoke, rolling around in the mouth brings some earthiness and more lemongrass and hay

Overall Impression
Quality of Blend -10/12 Not knowing other than a candella wrap with a "secret" Nicaraguan Filler and Cap Hard to rate
Flavor Progression -7/8 - spicy not your normal candella in any way, but delicous
Finish -6/6 - all the way to the nub was flavorful. No harsh notes in anyway, nor overheat or char flavor. Wonderful
Speed of Burn -5/5 - perfect
Price: $10.00 Good price for the stick

MY RATING: 91/100
