Well, not unexpected, but always a gut punch. Today about 0200 our beloved “Surfer dude” Jeff Spicoli cat Maui headed off to heaven.
He had been diagnosed with what the vet thinks was cancer and just began losing weight. He was always in good spirits, not in pain, and eating well. However, he could just not keep the weight on, and became weaker. Over the last month he would make strides for recovery, but in the end he just could not win.
Last night we saw the signs, placed him in his favorite bed, gave him his favorite blanket, and waited for the inevitable.
His cousin Ruger clearly is moping around the house looking for him, and Kona has been laying in the spot where they used to interact
We will let him rest, and his remains will join our other pet family members on the ranch, while he heads to where we will see our furry brood again at the Rainbow Bridge.
Not exactly the way I wanted to start the day, but at least he passed peacefully and on God’s Day
