Interesting. Do you have a recommendation for a jerky gun? I'm going to have to try this.Just an FYI for those looking for way to spoil their family pet (cat or dog).
I recently made some smoked turkey treats that my dogs and cat LOVE. I grabbed a 1 pound chub of 90/10 ground turkey, loaded it into my jerky gun and shot out a large tray of stips. Then I put those strips right into the smoker along with the peppercorns and pink salt I had in there to smoke. After maybe 2-3 hours the strips had dried and were ready to take out. The texture was a bit dry and flakey compared to cured/seasoned turkey jerky but the Dogs and cat go wild.
NO, I'm not selling dog treats, I'm just sharing how you can make your own.

I'm definitely going to give this a try.View attachment 141614
This is what I have, I have had it at least 25 years (probably more like 30). It does the job but I would love to find something that holds more so I have to load fewer times when doing large batches. I load the strips directly onto aluminum wire grill things I got from amazon like this
If you don’t load directly to the grill liners it can go south quickly.
