TSC Celebrates Bourbon Heritage Month Sept. 2021

Don't have 30 bourbons any more but will be drinking plenty of what I do have as the weather cools off! Looking forward to following along.

For day 2 I chose:

Makers Mark is known and loved by many. Pay a little more and get the 101. It's absolutely amazing. I even prefer it to their cask strength. This is such a great bourbon. The cherry is my favorite note. Reminds of upside down cake. Yummy! I give it a 8/10

List:
1st: Old Grand Dad Bottled in Bond 6/10
2nd: Maker's Mark 101 8/10

Day 3 - Woodford Reserve - smooth, easy drinking.
IMG_20210903_194027290.jpg
List:
1. Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve 9 year, 120 proof 8/10.
2. Elijah Craig Small Batch 94 proof, 6/10.
3. Woodford Reserve Distillers Select 90.4 proof 7/10

I seem to have reached the end of the bourbon I have on hand and I didn't make it to total wine to grab some mini bottles. I will have a glass of Tincup though as a placeholder since it is partially bourbon.

Day 3:

Look I love buffalo trace and I love all their offerings. I especially love when it's priced right. Don't give into the crazies who sell it for 3x MSRP but when it's done right it's good. 7.5/10
List:
1st: Old Grand Dad Bottled in Bond 6/10
2nd: Maker's Mark 101 8/10
3rd: Buffalo Trace 7.5/10

Wolcott B&B 09.04.2021.jpg
List:
1. Elijah Craig Barrel Proof 9/10
2. High West Prairie Bourbon 7/10
3. Buffalo Trace 8/10
4. Wolcott Bottled in Bond 7.5 / 10

This was my 2nd bourbon I had purchased, and really enjoyed the sweetness when chilled, but am enjoying neat as well now. However as my bourbon palate is evolving I find it a bit too sweet now, but still nice. This is the "house" brand of Total Wine and is distilled by Clear Spring Distillery, part of the Sazaerac Brand ( Buffalo Trace, Blantons, and more ) to me if WT 101 and Buffalo trace had a baby this would be it..

Day 4:

So this is freshly opened and first pour. So opinion might change. I do like Bulleit it's a good pour. This being the single barrel I was excited. All because it's higher proof. It is very corn forward which to me means it is young. I didn't do a lot research but can't find an age statement on bottle or online after a quick search. The flavor to me after the corn is one of those old school maple caramel candies your grandma always has/had. It's yummy but right now not s favorite. I'll be curious to see if it opens up with time. For now it's gonna get a 6.5/10.

List:
1st: Old Grand Dad Bottled in Bond 6/10
2nd: Maker's Mark 101 8/10
3rd: Buffalo Trace 7.5/10
4th: Bulleit Bourbon Single Barrel 6.5/10

Day 5 this is what bourbon is supposed to taste like

I am Old Forester fan boy. And the 1920 is exceptional! Hard to beat honestly. It's just pure deliciousness. If you haven't tried it you really need to. 9.3/10

List:
1st: Old Grand Dad Bottled in Bond 6/10
2nd: Maker's Mark 101 8/10
3rd: Buffalo Trace 7.5/10
4th: Bulleit Bourbon Single Barrel 6.5/10
5th: Old Forester 1920 9.3/10
