The wonderful excesses of acquisition disorders...and wet shaving

All caught up again Josh!

Sans a Mr. M. visit some great shaves!

Great reviews and pictures!

Nice shave Josh ! Love the DT 14 and while watching the video I was just saying in my head wow, look at the sheen on that soap. Immediately after that thought you point it out too. It's a great base for sure. May have to try the Coconut Oud scent as it has a following on the Cadre.

Thanks Dave...the sheen was incredible; some of the best I've seen in any soap!

COCONUT OUD is the...sorry...this is a family friendly place...almost forgot. But that scent is really AWESOME!

Yeah...the coconut oud is an excellent scent!!

Good stuff! I’ve run out of space a couple of times while filming, it kinda stinks that there’s no warning messages on the iPhone.

Gonna pop over and watch the vid now!

Yeah...it happens, and I should have seen it coming as there were quite a few files on the SD card. Thanks Chris!

Lisa’s Natural Herbal Creations Artisan Shaving Soap Somali Rose | Eiko 6/8” ½ wedge
Currently on Shave #589 | Straight shave #364

Quite a shave this morning, in totality. Enjoyable in the act of shaving, decent but not the best of results, but absolutely wonderful ending. This was my final of the four soaps I purchased from Lisa’s in the new soap base, and again I went with a badger brush. This morning was the Shavemac Ebonite 26mm Silvertip 2-band.

I love this scent…it’s definitely not a pure rose scent in any way, but the supporting notes really highlight the best of the rose, while keeping it from getting too effeminate. Don’t misunderstand, this can be treated as a unisex fragrance, but the darker notes most definitely lend to men’s wear. As far as the performance of the soap is concerned, I did write a full review over in the appropriate section along with a video. Needless to say, Lisa did an extremely good job with this soap base, improving on every point from what I can tell.

Three passes with the Eiko, a razor that doesn’t often give me irritation free shaves, resulted in a DFS- with no noticeable feedback from the alum. Happy days indeed! I followed up with the matching elixir by Lisa’s, which is just excellent stuff! Quick to absorb, without leaving any kind of oily residue or a heavy feeling on the skin. Here’s a little hint…it pairs most excellently with Penhaligon’s English Fern. I’m walking around now, getting both hits of the EF as well as the dark rose scent of the Somali type. Just. Awesome!

Thanks for reading, have a great Saturday!

Declaration Grooming Bandwagon | Gillette Fatboy (G-3) set to 5 | Perma-Sharp Stainless (1)
Currently on Shave #590 | Straight shave still at #364

Back to another Declaration Grooming soap this morning with Bandwagon, their take on the barbershop scent. Another day that I just didn’t feel like the straight razor, so I grabbed the Fatboy, which I’ve neglected to use for a little while. I threw in a new Perma-sharp Stainless and set it to 5. I had about 26 hours of growth, so I probably could have justified going a bit higher, but left well enough alone. With a Declaration soap, I went ahead and said why not, let’s grab the Declaration brush as well. It didn’t hurt in the least that it matched the color scheme.

The soap lathered up easy and quick, and gave a great base for the FB to play around on. It whipped around the face with much aplomb, almost lack of care. Three passes went by before I knew it and I walked away with a solid DFS, with no feedback from anything. I topped off with the matching aftershave and some Fine American Blend EdT, walking out smelling fresh and clean.

Mail finally showed up today, bringing a couple of the packages I've been waiting for; one from West Coast Shaving and one from Stirling:

WCS
Declaration Grooming Contemplation (Icarus base)
Wickham Soap Co. 1912 Club Cola soap and ASB

Stirling Soaps
Island Man Shaving Soap, Bath Soap, Aftershave Balm, Body Butter
Dunshire Deoderant
Bergamot Lavender Shampoo Bar

Things are busy as ever at work, but all in all, nothing different than days past. I hope everyone had a great and SAFE Labor Day weekend!

Thanks for reading, have a great Tuesday!

Nice mail call, Josh. And refresh my memory: what's your take on the Bandwagon aftershave? Does it leave a tacky feeling, or is it good juice? And how's the scent? Just like the soap? SOS/longevity?

Great stuff Josh. Really enjoying the reads. Going to get caught up on the videos hopefully today as well.

Thanks Chris! Just posted a review of the soap in the review section. As far as the aftershave, it's a dead ringer to my nose to the soap. Not sure on longevity, but SoS is nice, about 3/5. It is not tacky to me like the newer ones that have been released with the Icarus base. (shore and contemplation) I might be a poor one to ask, as that doesn't bother me all that much.

Thanks Chad!

Great reads Josh, and I will have to check out your reviews on all of Lisa's new formulations.
