The wonderful excesses of acquisition disorders...and wet shaving

Great read Josh. And no complaint here on your videos. I am enjoying them. Please keep them going.

Nice looking set-up, Josh. One of these days I'll find that Pen's in a store to sample.

In terms of your soap reviews.....

....my tendancy is to wait until I see reviews on products before buying to gauge whether or not I would enjoy the scent and it will perform. So while a lot of my purchases are blind buys, (not sampling before hand), they aren't uniformed, and I generally will have a decent idea of how the soap will smell and perform.

I'm with ya on this. I was just ribbin' you a bit. There really are so many good soaps available right now that it's becoming difficult to to find ones that fall below even a Tier 2 in terms of performance. But your reviews are excellent. They're detailed, which is very informative and beneficial, and have "caused" me to purchase some when I wouldn't have necessarily thought to beforehand.

Keep up the good work!

Though you’re soaps reviewed all tend to be rated above average, I think the commentary in the video really balances it out some. You do verbally voice some negative points of the soaps often, though it may not always reflect in the score. Sometimes it’s the opposite, where you’ll have had what looks to be a good shave, then later during the scoring some surprise points will be dinged.

Overall I think you at least give good reasons behind you’re general scoring, enough to be on the more objective side. While you could talk about lower scoring soaps (which might be a good idea, particularly more widely recognized/experienced classics), you don’t necessarily have to go through the hassle of shaving with them just for us.

I’ll get you to have a good experience with Williams, eventually. You just wait.....

Good points Josh. If I was to review the soaps I have, there wouldn't be one I said I didn't like. You have a wide range to your palette.

Thanks everyone for the comments...extremely busy, so don't have time to quote each and every one of you as normal.

Noble Otter Barrbarr | Ragg Napoleon 6/8” wedge
Currently on Shave #554 | Straight shave #345

After a very late night, I wasn’t sure if I was going to get the shave in, but got a quick one in with a video. Noble Otter’s Barrbarr was today’s victim…well, I was the victim, but not because of the soap. The razor was the Ragg Napoleon and it really does need a refresh. Not sure when I’m going to get to it, but it’s being pulled from rotation until it happens. When I can get to it, it will be a good opportunity to give the coti its first run out. Just a 2 pass shave today leaving me CCS-. That’s fine, as it was a later shave, so this will ensure that there will be more than enough stubble for tomorrows shave. I did catch myself this morning high on my chin on pass one, (it’s on camera), but it closed up with some alum. Followed up with American Blend AS and EdP.

Not sure if there will be a video for Friday, just due to bandwidth issues…probably will, but not going to make any promises.

Happy ground-hog day everyone!

Love those Raggs! I know the feeling of a blade needing some work on the stones. Most of mine do lol.

Thanks again everyone...

Well, no shave today. First time in a few months that I've not shaved. But things over the past week have culminated in a lack of sleep, and this morning my body just went on strike, refusing to get up in time to shave. I'll catch up on everyone's journals and videos eventually, but there doesn't look to be any let-up in the near future, so I'll be popping in now and again with a video here and there.

Have a great day everyone!

I definitely understand the work cadence you are going through. No worries my brother...well be here when things settle down .

Perfect clip Dave!

Josh, been there, sometimes the body tells you to shut up. Get rest when you can. Maybe a good nap is in order? Don’t worry about the videos. We can go a few days without seeing your smiling face.....

Thanks for doing what you do Josh!

Hopefully the weekend is a little less “Monday-ish” for you.
