The wonderful excesses of acquisition disorders...and wet shaving

Great stuff, Josh! I haven't tried the Doc Holiday yet. And now that I'm back home, I see that I received 5 new Wild West soaps: Private Reserve 2; Rose Dunn; Sundance Kid; Wichita; and The Virginian. I just test lathered each and will post initial scent impressions soon.

It happens to be my third favorite scent from WWSC. Great shave

Thanks TJ!

Great read, shave, and picture Josh!
I've had Wild West on the bucket list, but it keep getting pushed back, but it is there!

Thanks Craig...it might be worth a purchase since the price point is so low.

Thanks Chris! Just read your descriptions of the scents, Chris! Have to agree with you on the PR2 and Rose Dunn...though I tend to like the Rose Dunn a little more.

Long Rifle Hawkeye | ERN Ator 5/8” Swayback
Currently on Shave #523 | Straight shave #320

Back to the Long Rifle again today. I went with the TSC Legacy brush today and loaded for about 30 seconds, which was honestly a bit much. It took me some time to get the water ratio right, and by the time I did, the amount of lather created was pretty staggering. Going through my typical pre-shave routine of a hot towel over lather and afterward rubbing the left over lather into the face left my whiskers in prime condition for a good shave. The lather was particularly nice and extremely protective. The scent on this soap is starting to fade a bit, but is still very nice.

The Ator felt good on the face as it skated along, doing the typical three passes (WTG, GTG, XTG, no clean-up) leaving me feeling great and a comfortable DFS. I was careful of where I caught myself yesterday, and didn’t have any inadvertent leakage. Followed up with the matching aftershave, which is full of good skin food. Just for good measure, I used some Paladin balm infused with a little CdN IM, then topped off with the same frag at the end. It’s not really even close to matching the soap fragrance, but was nice all the same.

Mail call today, and an EXCITING one at that! The first part of my birthday splurge came in today from Germany…my first Shavemac. It’s a 26mm 2-band Silvertip set at 52mm loft in a Sand Ebonite handle. I was torn between this knot and the DO-1 three band, but wanted one with a bit more density, as the more dense a knot is the better the backbone, regardless of the hair quality. Can’t wait to give a run out…

Thanks for reading and have a great day everyone!

Okay... that Ebonite brush is absolutely stunning!

Thanks Chad! I couldn't resist pulling the trigger on it. Going to put it through its paces before it gets used for a shave, however much I want to use it tomorrow. LOL

Fantastic set up and shave Josh.

I echo the others - absolutely gorgeous brush. Don’t show KJ, I think that’s the handle type he was taking about listing after in his 7 sins!

Great shave. That brush is stunningly beautiful.

Thanks Doug!

He was talking about Ebonite, but he was speaking about a specific color scheme of Ebonite called Deep Sea, I believe. It's got much more color variation than this does...

Great shaves and mail call. That was quite a nice way to say happy birthday to yourself. It is beautiful.

All caught up, Josh. Shavemac 2-band silvertip? Yes sir!!! You may have just motivated me to use the one I have in the next day or two.

Just catching up on journals, then I’ll head over to the video. This ones rated PG-13 for realistic gore!

I'm looking forward to using it. Gave it a few test lathers last night with a neutral soap, PannaCrema Pure2O DFS, and also ran it through the Brush Rejuevenator soap from DG. Got most of the funk/gunk in the brush and I'm thinking of using it either tomorrow or Thursday! Exciting times!!

Catching up Josh and congrats on the Fili, they are magical

Thanks Dave! The Fili's inbound as we speak...I should be seeing it in a few days, possibly by the end of the week!

Man that's a gorgeous brush !!

Thanks Dave!

Unfortunately, as you found out...the bite happened later on in the shave off camera.

Very nice catch up Josh.

Thanks TJ!

Wild West Shaving Company Gin & Tonic | C.V. Heljestrand Mk*31
Currently on Shave #524 | Straight shave #321

New soap day, and I pulled out another WWSC soap in Gin & Tonic. A full review and video should be posted, if not now, a little later on today, so I’m not going to get too much into performance or preference here…aside to say that out of all the scents that I got from WWSC, I’m predicting that this will be the most disappointing from a scent perspective.

Regardless of what I thought of the scent, the soap itself performed great, giving a nice shiny and very slick lather that gave the CVH a great bed to slide around on. The Paladin was able to whip up a great lather, albeit a bit different than what a synthetic can develop. It still had some great slickness, residual and moisturizing. The cushion was a little less than before. Either way, another standard three passes (WTG, GTG, XTG, no clean-up) and I’m off to the races today. I followed up with some WK Monaco Royale since I didn’t have any juniper based AS splashes, the of course, there was only one frag that I had to go with this. Penhaligon’s Juniper Sling. Dave, I’ll have to say that this is becoming more and more of a favorite of mine for those hotter days. Really good stuff.

Mail call brought in my order from Ariana & Evans…and all of them smell incredible!!

Ariana & Evans Summer Fig
Ariana & Evans NYC
Ariana & Evans Little Fictions (collaboration with Grey Matter perfumers)
Ariana & Evans Shave Serum No.3

Thanks for reading and have a great day everyone!

I've seen the Summer Fig and I am very interested! Let us know how it smells and performs. And Awesome Mail Call!
