The TSC Movie Thread

Ok. Just release on Paramount +. I am a HUGE fan of all the MI movies and Dead
Reckoning part 1 has more in the 1st 15 mins, before the opening credit than most of the other movies in its entirety. It really pays homage to tje original TV show. Geeze!

Final review if my heart holds out through the entire movie!!!

“I chose to accept it”. 🤪😂😂😂😎

Watched two new to me movies during my travels on the plane.

Oppenheimer - Great movie!

Wonka - Had no idea it was pretty much a musical, but enjoyed it

We just watched "Poor Things"
What a strange movie ... in an interesting way. Totally unlike anything we have seen before.

Bad Sci-fi promised - Bad sci-fi delivered!
“Night of the Lepus” (1972)
Recommended during our Zoom Call this one was promised to be a velvety cheesy experience. Featuring an all-star cast, including Deforest Kelly of Star Trek fame.

Cheesy goodness flowed from the screen pretty much from the very beginning! It was great seeing Dr. McCoy with long hair and mutton chops. Weak writing and old school effects make for a very enjoyable afternoon movie. If b-grade movies are your bag, Night of the Lepus is definitely worth a watch.
Thanks Babadebbit for the recommendation! Free on Plex

I’ve only seen the first 2 or 3 Mission Impossible movies. I recall I liked the first one but the last I saw seemed goofy and I haven’t seen any since. I’m thinking about watching them all in order now. Good idea or did they get lame?

First one is iconic. The rest are a balance of mildly interesting stories, plenty of good action/stunts, and Cruise stroking his ego. Decent time killers at the least!

Bad Sci-Fi
Plan 9 From Outer Space (1959)
My Goodness! Bad writing, coupled with B-grade special effects, and b&w presentation made for an excellent fun afternoon movie!
This one has it all! Flying Saucers, monsters, old cars, drunk people, and old army hardware. Quite pleased for my selection.

Yep! It was pretty bad. 😜 Wait… I may have mis-watched. That was Afterlife… and it was pretty bad

As Suggested: Ghostbusters Frozen Empire
Cheesiness promised and delivered in an entertaining way. I probably would have baked in a little more cheese though.

Rented this one on Amazon for $5.99. Figured if we’re only going to watch it once, no need to buy it. The cast from afterlife returns in a reasonably ok movie that starts slow and finishes on full on visual effects. Entertainment poured directly into the brain with no need to use the ol’ noggin. Exactly what I like in an evening before bed after a day of worrisome world events; a good escape.

Most of the Original Ghostbusters appear for their cameos in this GB: the next generation movie. Left the door wide open for more adventures.

Bad SciFi

Star War: The Third Gathers - The Backstroke of the West
A huge triumph of bootleggery! The result of third hand translation. A bootleg of Star Wars Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith.
Take any sentence, translate to Chinese in the most low budget way possible. Then translate it back to English in the same manner. Then arrange for voice talent to voice-over the result. What you end up with is a hilariously bad and nonsensical approximation of the original. This is where the famous meme “Do Not Want!” came from.

Another excellent afternoon with many rewinds and replays! I’m now looking for other movies and books that have had the same treatment. I’m sure they are out there. Just have to find them.

This one is truly a must see!
