The Heysi Missive

No one has done that. Ever. For good reason. 8 tracks sucked. Oh...they were cool and all....until the track switched mid song. For a long time I couldn't listen to Sgt. Peppers without hearing the For the Benefit of Mr. Kite midway through the song fading out for a second.....a pause....a click...and then the song resuming. Nope....8 tracks were awful.
I hated them too. I was riding in a friend’s car and we were listening to “Wild Horses”. 🎶”Wild horse” -click whir clunk- “s, couldn’t drag me awaaay.”🎶
I never owned any. Bad product all around!

I recently noticed that I've been neglecting my journal. So here's an update:

The first two weeks of June we had a visit from our daughter and granddaughter (the SIL had to work). During those two weeks, we went to Disneyland...

While I was there....I checked off a bucket list item and got myself a lightsaber....

...and of course...I got Obi Wan's light saber.

Spent lots of great time being the silly Granddad.

It was a great visit and we can't wait to go see them soon.

Then I got a visit from our own BarberDave... I wasn't aware of his coach issues....but we had a great evening at dinner and exchanging a few adult beverages before he and AvocadoQueen headed off to Yellowstone.

I also went to see Weird Al Yankovic in concert. He puts on an amazing show. And he dresses up for each of his parodies....he wore the fat costume for Fat...looked like Kurt Cobain for Smells Like Nirvana and wore Jedi robes for The Saga Begins.

Just recently I received a few soap samples from Chris at CBL Soaps....I'm writing a review later this week.....but it's safe to say that it's a positive review.

And finally....I pulled the trigger on our next cruise. Next May we're headed to the Western Caribbean. One stop is in Honduras....never been there so that's something to look forward to.

Shaves have been phenomenal. More details will be in the CBL soap review.

See ya Later!!

Well....we're in that part of vacation planning where time seems to speed up and slow down at arbitrary moments. Its 35+ days until the trip starts so the detailed planning is in full swing....but its 5 weeks until then so it feels like its forever until the trip starts. Going to be quite a fun time....visiting the home my ancestors lived in (one of my old-bitty Great-aunts sold it......so no free place to stay....boooo). And I've worked out how to go to several breweries and cider houses (including Samuel Adams!). Looking forward to visiting an Irish pub in Boston, throwing tea in the harbor, and eating lots of Lobsta'. Also looking to enjoy temps in the upper 70s for a week while its still 100 back here at home should be nice.

Still working out the last minute details: How many bags to pay for on the airplane (I say one the wife thinks its 3......!), scheduling a haircut before I go, paying bills while I'm gone.

Lots to do.

Shave Journal:

Tried a soap a friend bought me as a gift........didn't lather very well at all...so I "recycled" it in the nearest receptacle and lathered up with CBL Hombres. I smell fantastic.

See ya Later!

I'm going to steal a page out of Mark's journal and post a bit of music every now and then that I enjoy that other people may have never gotten exposed to (because, lets face it......you can't be everywhere in the musical world)

First up:

My friend's band - Psychic Rain

They played together for about 10 years before time and life and responsibility stepped in and the band drifted apart. I was their roadie for about 5 of those years. Lots of fun memories and interesting stories....but the songs are still out there.

Dig it!!!

So I'm cruising along....planning out the Vacation....looking up maps to sights.....finding interesting food and beverage options......trying to discover the cool things to see....when I suddenly remembered......I'm the current Bingo Wizard!!! Darn...bad timing. Have to throw together a quick Bingo game before I head off. Can't be running a game and suddenly....."oh hey guys.....I'll be back two weeks to finish the game" (Hmmm....maybe I should have done it that way).

Anyway.....Zoom Bingo should be fun. I just randomly drop Bingo calls as the Zoom call happens. It was fun the last time....and I have to imagine it will be fun again this time.

Finally booked my tickets for The Benjamin Lincoln House in Hingham, Mass. I'm looking forward to that experience. I've already written out the family line from the General to myself. I'm planning on telling everyone to get out of my house.

And I'm hoping to buy some silver at Paul Rever's house.

See ya Later!

I thought that was what Bougie was testing me for last time I saw him. Seemed like a lot of blood was being taken...but he's the medical professional.....who am I to question him.

The last I knew, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts had the biggest collection of Revere silver. It’s extraordinary. Revere was a very talented silversmith. MFA also has dozens of portraits of Massachusetts’ prominent citizens- maybe a portrait of Benjamin Lincoln. Try to fit in the Old North Church, which you can enter, which is close to Revere’s home, which you cannot. The church continues to hold services, and has pews sectioned off for the families of its original parishioners.

I’m looking forward to your impressions of the city and Fenway.

Its always nice when you turn over the calendar page and the first thing you see is a 4 day work week...followed by a 3 day work week and then an 11 day vacation.

Getting super exciting.

Shave-wise.....Used the CBL and Barberdave colab of Doc Holiday. Fantastic scent and the base is the best of the best. I guess I'm your huckleberry.

See Ya Later!

I was hoping that this post would be a trip report from our trip to New England and Nova Scotia....but instead I'm giving an update on my day as it stands so far:

Car wouldn't start this morning.....Well, I have AAA Premier and since I haven't used it yet...I called and in less than 10 minutes a tech was given me a jumpstart. Awesome!! I'm off to work....

Oh wait...I'm only a few blocks from home and my electrical system goes haywire....warning lights come on....dinging starts....power steering goes out....but the car doesn't stop.

Quickly make a turn and head to the mechanic I'm friends with. Drop off car....get an uber to the local Enterprise and I'm finally on my way to work.

Hopefully its only the battery and not the computer system. We'll see.

Oh and I tried the soap I bought on my trip......it sucked. Weak lather. Oh well.

See ya Later!
