The Heysi Missive

Well....day one of my first Amazon Prime Day is in the bag. Since downgrading to a smaller house, I've noticed that my bills have dropped dramatically......well, my beer bills are still up there......but utilities are down considerably...so I treated myself to an Amazon Prime membership. Gotta love the free shipping!

But since this is my first Prime Day, I wanted to get some great deals. Maybe buy myself some new toys......some new games....or maybe even some items for the house. Woke up yesterday morning and there was a text from my daughter.....with a link to her amazon prime day wish list!!! Seems my wife decided to use our "perk" in an entirely different way than I intended. So I ended up buying most of my daughter's classroom supplies and my granddaughter's wardrobe for the next 6 months. I'll probably only get voted #1 Grandad. Again. (I'm not sure how Hazel is voting since she can't speak english yet)

Looks like the baseball season is ramping up nicely......my Dodgers have gone on a losing streak that isn't good....but every season has a slump and its better if its in the middle than at the end. The minor league team heads back into town this weekend and I'm going on friday night when its Harry Potter night. They're giving away hats for each of the 4 houses of Hogwarts that night. Should be fun. The minor leagues always put on great themed nights. Should be very warm and lots of fun.

I'm enjoying the Clown Puck tub that @Spider provided everyone at the TSC Con this past spring. Its such a mishmash of scents.....but it lathers like no ones business. @CBLindsay needs to reverse engineer my tub to get the ultimate lather in his soaps (granted....Chris is top of the list for me as far as his soaps...so this lather is not much of a difference). Maybe Chris can sell CBL Clown Pukes.....that would be impressive scents AND impressive lathers.

See Ya Later

To begin with....I didn't choose Grandad...my daughter did. She said it sounded more English and she hoped that Hazel would like that part of our family history (the English part). I wanted to be called Grandpa after my Grandpa Crosby. But I usually don't get a vote in my household. So I'm Grandad....except Bougie may call me whatever he likes....because he's Bougie.

What a fun weekend!!!!

Flew up to Oakland for a baseball drop-in at the Oakland/Alameda coliseum to see that ballpark before the A's move to Sacramento and who knows where after that.

Once again....my seats are unacceptable....where's the manager?

Seriously, it's a bummer that the team is being ignored by the owner. Even worse is the facility. The whole building is falling down around the spectators. But I will give a ton of love to the people that work there. They love the building and the team way more than they should. I talked to employees that have been working there for over 30 years and still gave the kind of customer service that every ballpark should offer. They all know their jobs are going away in a few short weeks and that the team is not good....but not one person I met had a bad attitude or failed to go above and beyond. Those are some great people. Baseball will miss their dedication.

What was the final score? I don't know ...I don't care. I basically saw the Detroit Tigers take on the Las Vegas Aviators. And.....Nick Allen is still terrible at the plate. If he couldn't pay shortstop he wouldn't be in the league......oh he made two errors at short?...so he's gotten worse since being called up. Oh well.

On Sunday I had lunch at Trader Vic's. Anyone that knows about tiki culture knows Trader Vic's. Some great rum drinks and the food was also very good. But extra bonus......

@NurseDave showed up and lots of laughs and fun were had (plus he drives a pretty sweet ride).

All in all....a great weekend and I look forward to traveling to more ballparks next year (already have a trip booked to Boston to see the Red Sox take on the Yankees....I hear there's a rivalry there.....I'll report back).

If you ever swing through Pennsylvania, you’ll love PNC Park.

Red Sox - Yankees tickets are more valuable than gold. OMGosh, the rivalry! I could tell you stories. You’re gonna love Fenway. It’s hallowed ground in New England. 😃

That’s “new” since I left Mass years ago. I’ve heard great things.

If you want to see PNC sometime, I’ll be your guide. Summer evenings are always best, as you get to see the city as the sun goes down, then you get nighttime views.

While on your whirlwind tour of the hallowed grounds of Baseball, don't Forget to get down to the "Ol Pueblo" for that Haircut, Shave, and of course the Best Mexican Food in the Known Universe
