Greetings, True Believers! It's your old pal Spider-Man.
Been working my way through the rest of the Chiseled Face aftershave samples.
Santa Paula - This is one dimensional, just orange, nothing else. Fairly strong, smells like I squeezed an orange peel over my skin. Needs balance.
Bay Rum - Ack. Probably the second worst Bay Rum I've ever tried, just above Ogallala. I love Bay Rum, but this was not good.
Cryogen - Meh. Just a cold shock, nothing else. Wish it had some scent. I prefer Osage Rub.
Cedar & Spice - All cedar, no spice. I like cedar, but prefer it blended with other woods and scents.
Summer Storm - I couldn't figure this one out. In the first 10 seconds, the scent changed every time I took a whiff. 1 second it was good, the next it was bad. It settled down to just ok, with a scent I couldn't really place. But longevity was about an hour, then gone. Very unremarkable.
I don't know what they are thinking at CF. It's like these scents were designed by my nemesis. I'm not trying to hate on the brand, but I don't really care for a single one of them. I went through 8 different scents of theirs, all with a very open mind, and disliked them all. In my entire experience of using aftershaves, I don't think there has been a total of 8 scents that I have not liked to date, and I've tried between 150-200 different scents. It really baffles be that there is not one that I like. After using them each a couple times, and going through my GTB soap sample (which I still don't enjoy), I can see how some of these scents would be better suited as a soap rather than an aftershave.
The Spider's Web
Had a good holiday weekend. Spent the weekend with my kids, and celebrated my youngest son's 13th Birthday. We fished in the morning at my friend's pond. My oldest son caught a 28", 7lb 10oz catfish! Then we went to Dave & Buster's to play some video games. Ended the day by walking around Cabelas, checking out the aquariums and taxidermy displays.
Then on Monday, I rode my motorcycle to my girlfriend's place which is about and hour and a half away. I only mention that because it's the longest ride I've done to date. Been working up to it, testing my road endurance. Actually was much easier than I thought it would be. And only used about half a tank of gas, so I can go around 3 hours on a longer trip before needing to stop for gas.
We swam in the pool and cooked out, and had a nice relaxing Memorial Day. Then on Tuesday I rode to my tattooer's place for another session on my HHG2G sleeve. He put the last two graphic elements in place, the towel and the dolphin, and started working on the background and tying the sleeve into my existing Freemason tattoo. I'm liking where it's headed. I probably have 2 more sessions before it is complete.
It's wrapped up in Saniderm, to aid in healing, so that's why it looks shiny/wrinkly.
