Straight razor Journey

Holy CRAP! You’re lucky to be alive. I can’t imagine what you’ve gone through. Glad you’re well enough to be here. Godspeed! 🙏🏼

I've been shaving g with a Gillette skin guard and can of original barbasol for awhile eith a assist from the Nurse that helping me, but today finally did a 1 pass shave with Barbasol 1919 fatherless shave cream and this Parker Solo edge. Working my way back up to full DE 3 pass. Then planning on getting back to my Tedalus Essence and straight razors when I'm able.

This sounds like terrific progress. What does “fatherless shave cream” mean? I haven’t heard of that expression before. 🤔

Still having mobility issues in my shoulders especially, but manage a 2 pass shave today using the Parker Solo Edge with a Gillette Platinum (Russian) blade (half blade). Shaves almost like using a Gem Micromatic vintage razor. Almost BBS in to passes. The flat internal keeps the blade from flexing, so pretty much eliminates blade flexing which causes blade chatter. Maker sure you clean it good though. If buildup of soap or anything else gets into handle mechanism it can jam and prevent you from taking apart to change blades. Excellent razor for me.

Feeling pretty good today, so pushed my limit a little more with a face lather using RazorRock Mudder Focker. Love how the special clay in it ads to how well it makes yhe razor glider even slicker. West Coast Shaving brush 26 mm. Tuxedo knot. Henson ++ with Treet Classic Carbon steel blade . Removed after shave today make sure to dry it off or it will rust. Otherwise excellent blade. 2 pass shave almost BBS. Probably be awhile before next shave. Physical therapy kinda wipes me out a little, but never gonna give up.

That’s a good looking razor. 👍
Tha k you, I consider it pretty mold, has a decent grip to handle. Like Ohio Shaves says in his youtube videos. If you don't get angle right it usually won't cut. Had a very tight angle tolerance. Little to no blade chatter. Very light. I actually prefer heavier razors. My go to DE is my Rockwell 6s or Rockwell T2.

Tried a Straight razor shave today with my Tedalus Essence replaceable blade. 1 pass, but got a few nicks. 1 pretty good 1 on my nose bridge and a few on my neck where I have more wrinkles. Switched to my Rockwell 6s to finish. Seems like my muscle memory needs retrained. Coordination is a bit off, but not by much. Surprised how fast it's all coming back though. Physical therapy definitely helping getting stronger every day.

Sounds as though you’re making great progress, BG. 👍
