Straight Faced Honing and Restoration

Hi Friends,

Many of you already know me well, but for those who don't here's a little bit of info about me. I'm a razor collector who specializes in straight razor restoration and have experience in restoring brushes and finding hard to find items. I really enjoy taking a ratty old razor which is covered in rust and turning it into something beautiful. I like the challenge of building and shaping new scales and working out how to care for these vintage beauties.

Honing is a ton of fun for me! Some razors are a real challenge while others are an absolute breeze! I hone on Jasper, Escher Thuringian, Arkansas, Coticule, Synthetics, Jnats(still learning) and more. I personally prefer to use natural stones for finishing and synthetics for bevel set only. I enjoy my zen time with the hones and like being challenged.

Now that I finally have a nice sized workshop and more free time I look forward to pushing out more projects than ever.

Contact me at mluecke23@gmail.com or send me a PM.

Here are a few of my recent projects and I look forward to providing more soon.

Talented work, Matt! One day i hope to get into little restoration work, such as scales, buffing restore blades etc. It does take a little bit of equity to make it easier. One day i will get a drill press, bandsaw/scroll saw, etc..

Some new scales I have coming in.

You do really good work! Very impressive. Where do you find the old blades to restore?

Actually ir is longer since he had my 7-day set even before that 😝😜😜

Just wanted to share the work that Matt did on a special razor for me. I bought it knowing it was not going to be able to be used properly. It's better days were behind it but since it has my last name all over it, I just wanted it as a display piece.

I sent it off to the busiest man on the Cadre....he gardens, he landscapes, he builds multiple vegetable beds, he drywalls.....he occasionally goes to the supermarket. But he sometimes works on straight razors.

This is my straight before:

There was not much of a honeable blade left on it and some rust had started to creep in. But the scales looked half decent and the silver inlay was intact.

This is the after:

As you can see, Matt took a beat up straight and shined it up as best he could and now it looks like a beautiful addition to my shave den. He was also nice enough to send a few soaps along (and a lather challenge).

Thank you Matt!! You gave me the best outcome with the worst piece I could send you. Thank you for taking the time to clean it up and make it presentable. You're a gentleman and one awesome dude.
