Okay the shave off is done and in the books (for now).
Game Changer with the bigger blade gap became a more efficient shaver and at the same time, a smoother shaver. For those out there that like to "feel their razor working", the Game Changer will satisfy that crowd. At no time did I have to think if I loaded a blade because I couldn't feel it in my shave (which was a common thing with my original Mamba). I just found the right angle, which was easier than before and it got me an efficient two pass plus minimal touch up BBS.
The Mamba with the bigger blade gap stayed true to it's design. Although I knew there was a blade loaded, it was still in the category of a "phantom" shave where you didn't feel it cutting whiskers. Another two pass plus touch up BBS, however the touch up was a little more than the GC.
Both razors are very refined shavers and both were seriously improved by the larger blade gap. Depending on your preference, you will not go wrong with either.
Oh yeah, and while I'm at it and because I'm too lazy to start a new thread in the soap section, I also got in a tub of RR The Stallion shave soap with my GC order. I used it last night with my GC shave and so tonight I used my Stirling Agar shave soap. Both are Oud scents. The Stallion was a very thirsty soap that was quick to lather and was slick with good cushion. The scent was a more refined Oud scent and rather light. RR says it was inspired by the Acqua di Parma Oud, and I have to take their word for it because I don't have a spare $150 to find out.
Tonight's Mamba shave was with the Stirling Agar. This soap was also a great performer. Not quite as thirsty as the RR, but it was quick to lather and was slick with a good cushion. The scent was more earthy with just a straight Oud scent and pretty strong, but not lasting. Both were good soaps and depending if you like a more perfume type scent or a more basal scent, that would determine which to get.
